Hi all im new here. Ive suffered from Afib for a while now and have had two ablations and three cardioversions. One ablation i woke up during and screamed/struggled. I think more damage was done because of this however never got a straight answer from my consultant. Anyway as a resullt i had to give

AF and cardioversion
My Doctor isn't keen on progressing a
cardioversion
for me to fix my AF. Her reasoning is that I am prone to AF and that the most dangerous time is when you flip from normal heartbeat to AF. I had a
cardioversion
5/6 years ago which did fix my AF.

Amiodarone after ablation
A week afterward, I had an afib episode that had to be treated with
cardioversion
even though I was taking 120 mg of TR diltiazem. A second episode began a week later and they told me to start 200 mg of amiodarone, which has big side effects on many and takes six months to clear once it’s stopped.

Shall I go for an ablation?
I had my first
cardioversion
in May last year (just one shock) and it kept me in sinus rhythm for 6 months during which time I felt considerably better and was able to get back to my long daily walks and feeling much less breathless.

Early ablation evidence based
Todays Medscape reported a follow up to the influential 2020 study which supported robustly treating rhythm by ablation or
cardioversion
early in one’s AF career rather than the previous convention of rate control and only considering ablation further down the line, in order to maintain heart health

Tiredness from meds - normal?
Admitted for 18h, diagnosed as AF and discharged after a "successful"
cardioversion
with little information. No previous history of AF although he has not felt fully well for a few years (tired, occasionally dizzy) and we wonder about a link... anyway.

Why does fluid retention come with AF ..?
I shall be on a diuretic next week, along with dronedarone to add to Apixaban and bisoprolol, then on the list for
cardioversion
. Is it the drugs or AF that causes the fluid retention?

Sotalol
My Cardiologist has recommended DC
Cardioversion
and Sotalol as I’m in Atrial Flutter. I’m already taking Entresto Apixapian & Bisoprol ! Will Sotalol replace any of these or is it an additional tablet?

Off beta block and Flec prior to Ablation?
I’m currently back in NSR due to a
cardioversion
so I’m not looking forward to going out… or is that an unnecessary concern?

AFIB (has (possibly) Saved my life!
This is my first contributory post & is quite long but hopefully will be useful to a few of you! Yes - unbelievably AFIB ihas been a potential life saver as it uncovered a potentially life-threatening condition, this being a Dilated Aortic Root (which can develop into a thoracic aneurysm ) This was

Saw an EP after waiting so long….
I hope that someone can help? Finally I saw an EP yesterday at Bristol Heart Institute. (The AFib nightmare began in September 2020) I have persistent AFib and very symptomatic. So far three electric cardioversions and one chemical. The ECG yesterday showed a problem with T waves (they’re going up, like

Almost a year of NSR
Ambulance and
cardioversion
, which I’m so pleased to say worked and I’m home now. After my last electronic
cardioversion
I only stayed in NSR for three days. I didn’t rest up much on the second day I remember.

Advice please
After going into atrial fibrillation my consultant wanted to get my TSH levels such that I can have a successful
cardioversion
. this meant that I had to reduce the level of T3 So these are the latest blood results and I would be very grateful for advice.

Pill in Pocket Question
Does anyone know if there are different antiarrhythmic drugs that could still allow for a pill in pocket
cardioversion
option? I am considering going off the Sotalol as this is causing me great anxiety. Thx in advance for any insights!
