The cardiologist talked about having a
cardioversion
procedure soon although having researched this it looks to have an initial high success rate of 90% but also a fairly high reversion back into AF after a relatively short period of time.

1 month out from RF ablation for asymptomatic afib
Hi. I was diagnosed with afib in late 2019 at age 66 and put on an anti-coag and sotalol. I was in and out of afib quite regularly but rarely symptomatic. Three cardioversions failed to restore normal sinus rhythm (NSR) for any real length of time, so ablations were suggested (I live in the US.) Since

Exercising on Amiodarone (and in Afib)
Hi - as the last throw of the dice I am taking Amiodarone (Arycor) until I get a
cardioversion
in January (will be my 7th on top of two ablations).

When you are just not sure what to do?
The cardiologist decided to carry out a
cardioversion
, this was the first one I have had. I was so scared. However, This is a pretty normal procedure to them I was told.
Cardioversion
reverted my heart to a normal sinus rhythm.

Back in Af after 2 months 🙁
Spoke to my echocardiologist in March, 2 days after going back into Af, he said to have a 3rd
cardioversion
& then another ablation( 2nd). Had my
cardioversion
10th sept & all was well till I woke up this morning back in Af. Heart rate settled around 90. Absolutely gutted.

Following Cardioversion....
I am due to have my first
cardioversion
for persistent AF on 24th November and have just read on here that if it is unsuccessful there will be no chance of an ablation. I thought I understood from my Cardio/EP that an (AV?) node ablation would be the next step but possibly with a pacemaker too.

10 weeks (tomorrow) post RF ablation.
Hi all, thought I'd drop a note giving my feedback and conclusions. Hope it helps anyone making the decision. After 4 years of persistent AF and 4 cardioversions - I hated the idea of an ablation and refused to have one, believing that the cardioversions were good enough - the NSR after the 4th one

Diagnosed with AFIB 3 months ago & stressed out
Went to the emergency room and after a
cardioversion
and 30 hours of monitoring the cardiologist released me. This came totally out of the blue....I am slim, extremely active, and follow a pescatarian diet (have for 10+ years). The only issue I had before this was slightly high blood pressure.

Question for Cardioversion Patients
Purpose in asking is though
cardioversion
often returns, does it improve symptoms (lower heart rate, feeling tired, etc) I realize this may depend on individual circumstances and medication given after
cardioversion
. Thanks !

Only one Afib episode???
However in January 2020 I suddenly went into Afib out of nowhere, it was the most terrifying experience of my life and it ended with an electrical
cardioversion
in A&E after about 6 hours of afib.

Afib and aflutter
I’m new here and looking for similar conditions and ideas to cope. I had Afib for 20 straight months. After 5 cardio and 1 ablation I finally was out of Afib which lasted about a year. Then into aflutter which has turned out to be more debilitating than Afib. Ive had cardioversions and ablation that

Ectopics and exercise
However in January 2020 (age 28) I had afib episode (following an extended period of drinking alcohol over christmas and new year) that needed electrical
cardioversion
. No episodes since, but periods of worse ectopics which sometimes correlate with being ill (cold/flu).
