Are Axumin scans worthless after brachytherapy? What about PSMA scans?
We finally found an MO who allowed my husband to have another Axumin scan to compare progression from a year earlier. He has been on Xtandi almost a year with still slightly decreasing psa (currently 5.5 down from 14.8). The doc told us the lung and throat lesions were unchanged from the previous two

Should I Stay or Should I Go?
Treatment: Lupron 2 years,
brachytherapy
, 36 sessions of radiation. Over the years as my PSA elevated I would be placed on Lupron for 1 year. I believe I have been on Lupron 6 out of 13 years. Now, my situation has changed. My PSA is elevating very quickly, 2.3 to 13.4 in 6 months.

Yet another surgery v. radiation study.
RESULTS: A total of 2,228 men were identified, of whom 1,459 (65.5%) underwent initial surgery and had a median followup of 43 months and 769 (34.5%) underwent initial external beam radiation therapy with or without
brachytherapy
and had a median followup of 44 months.

Gleason 6, 19 years post dx; presently on Dynamo trial at MDA for last 30 months
For instance, during
brachytherapy
, which I had, numerous needles are inserted into the prostate gland, for up to 18 hours, while therapy occurs. Any of these needles could easily result in release of a shower of micrometastasis only to show later on scans or PSA rise.

Zytiga for high-risk non-metastatic PCa?
It's been treated in recent months with EBRT and
brachytherapy
. I'm on Casodex & Lupron, and the Lupron will continue into 2020. But I feel maybe I could be doing more.

Comparative Effectiveness of Radical Prostatectomy vs EBRT Plus Brachytherapy in High-Risk Localized Prostate Cancer
This study used data from the National Cancer Data Base to compare overall survival with external beam radiation therapy plus
brachytherapy
(EBRT + BT) versus RP in comparatively young (≤65 years) and healthy men with localized prostate cancer.

Start of New Phase in My Prostate Cancer Journey
In 2011, when I was diagnosed with low volume Gleason 3 + 3 prostate cancer and treated with
brachytherapy
, I did not think that I would be fighting the cancer again and again. First time in 2016 with local recurrence in an extra- capsular mass that was treated with ADT and cyberknife.

Starting Treatment for Metastatic Prostate Cancer
My prostate cancer diagnosed Gleason 3 + 3 in 2011 and treated with
brachytherapy
in 2011 is now a metastatic disease with many lymph nodes involved. Today I took the first Casodex pill in preparation for the first Lupron shot in two weeks time.

When to Treat Lymph Node Metastatic Prostate Cancer
My prostate initially treated in 2011 with
brachytherapy
for Gleason 3 + 3 cancer is now cancer free (no uptake) and 33 cc. The nodular mass attached to the capsule that was treated with cyber knife and ADT in 2016-2017 is not found on the scan.

Surgery vs Radiotherapy for Gleason 9-10.
While prospective validation is needed in a randomized clinical trial, this result provides evidence to support that, in the setting of EBRT and
brachytherapy
, adding 6 months compared with 12 months of ADT may provide a similar PCSM risk reduction compared with RP.

Treatment Options for Lymph Node Metastasis
I had
brachytherapy
of my prostate in 2011 and cyber knife for a extra-capsular nodule in 2017. Is radiating the lymph nodes a good idea? Does my age (78) rule out some of the possibilities? Should I go on intermittent ADT alone?

Had longer remission but similar recurrence
Hi I had combined
brachytherapy
and external beam 18 years ago with undetectable psa after for 15 years. Then it started rising Axumin scan showed pelvic and abdominal lymph node involvement. Now on week four of eight weeks of HHT ( Tomotherapy).
