Lactose intolerant
I am changing from Armour Thyroid to synthetic T4 and T3, due to cost and that a local Endo has agreed to this on the NHS. However I’m super sensitive to lactose and the hospital pharmacy are dithering about finding lactose free options. Does anyone know which brands are lactose free please?

Why does Levothyroxine cause weight gain if it treats hypothyroidism, weight gain being a hypo symptom?
Shouldn't it help rectify hypo symptoms not make them worse? This baffles me! I wish I could revert back to Levothyroxine and use it together with T3 as NDT is extortionately priced, and not working brilliantly for me anymore, however, weight gain is my biggest fear, and I read so much about this on

Collected Responses to Give more funding for thyroid research and patients after price hike Petition
The petition launched by Pete Taylor has received a response, and there have now been numerous posts referencing that. And replies on each of them. This it is getting spread and some will be missed, there will be much repetition, etc. For that reason, this new post is intended to collect everything

A lovely member mentioned the UK thyroid site to me, about looking for a endocrinologist who as knowledge of intolorences to thyroid medication, or who is just more knowledgeable than the ones I've seen these last 4 years .I know it's a list, can anyone direct me as to how I access it. Thank you ❤️

Advice urgently needed: Endo reducing levo dose yet again based on flawed blood results.
Hello everyone I had thyroidectomy 1992 and since then been on levothyroxine. Roughly, 6 weeks ago levo dose was reduced by GP from 75/50mcg alternate days, to 50mcg daily due to T4 being over range. A very toxic iodine based medication I'm prescribed to treat afib, namely Amiodarone, is pushed T4 over

Iodine Uptake?
I need to use iodine solution, but am not sure what "absorption of iodine from this solution may lower the iodine uptake of the thyroid" means in terms of my hypothyroidism. Does the reduction of uptake mean that I will be more hypo, or less?

Scan Query
I was supposed to have a scan at a private clinic but when i told them I was allergic to iodine they said I must have it in hospital because it was too risky. Does anyone know why?

I have just had an ultrasound of my neck and was told my thyroid gland is small. What is the significance of this? Does anyone know?

Thyroid S
I have been on Thyroid S for years, always ordering from Thailand, and have recommended them to a few here. A couple of forum members were having trouble ordering lately. I was due to re-order, went to the website to find it no longer has thyroid medication. Now I am in a flat panic! The website

Nurse phone call update
I put the results of my thyroid and cholesterol blood test result on here the other day and today I heard back from the nurse who said my Thyroid was fine “within the range” the usual thing. but my cholesterol was very high at 8 which I knew. So, as always, just concentrating on my cholesterol levels

Has anyone had this? Desperate for answers
for about 2 months now I can feel my thyroid is swollen - I had blood tests by doctors and confirmed that my hormone levels are normal and thyroid is functioning. I then had an ultra sound which said that my thyroid was ‘diffuesly enlarged’ and that I also had ‘tiny cysts’ I have now been referred

Switching to NDT – How to build up dose?
After many years on levothyroxine 100mg, I have now been prescribed Armour thyroid 60mg (1 grain) to be taken twice a day, but starting at ½ grain twice a day. How quickly should I build up from this to 1 ½ grains per day, and then to 2 grains per day? After one week, two weeks ..? What are the side

Urgent help please - feeling total despair - think I'm going crazy after stopping and restarting levothyroxine - blood results included
Hi, This won't be the full story as I don't want to to make the post too long and hard/annoying to read. It's already going to be too long. RAI for Graves around 11 years ago. Never felt good on T4 since. Normal dose around 100 micrograms plus around 12.5 micrograms a couple of times a week. Mostly stopped

Well we're back to the Endo to be told we're trying Stop and Block again.
some may remember my thyroid story as it's been a while since I've posted, but I'm still a regular reader of posts. Tuesday the day all meds are being stopped. I refused the op to remove my thyroid and have it burned out through the great advice in here plus I wasn't keen on having a op at my age either
