Boniva

I have GCA and osteoporosis, currently taking 1.5 mg prednisone, Actemra and Boniva. My front teeth have been slowly moving inward, and it was suggested to have Invisalign (clear retainer like braces). The treatment should take 6 months.

Are the other biphsphonates the same as Actonel in side effects, eg. if one causes migraine will Fosamax, Boniva or Reclast cause migraine? Thanks

The doc says prolia is best for high fracture risk although t score only -2,5 I am leaning toward relaying off with Boniva Doc says dental effects worse with Boniva ( had implant and jaw work prior to starting any of these drugs ) Question is will affects get easier or worse with second prolia

With aggravated osteoporosis my partner has been offered the choice of monthly doses of Bonviva or a six monthly injection. Which would be most effective to mitigate the osteoporosis while remaining compatible with an AF/pacemaker regime that includes Amias, Sotalol, Furosemide, and Apixaban?.

has anyone cut the 30 day Boniva in half or quarters to take it every two weeks or weekly ? Am I the only one scared of a 30 day tablet?

I’m 73 now, and my rheumatologist wants me on Boniva immediately. I do have trust in this new rheumatologist , but would like other’s opinions. My fear is having a weaker spine with Biphosphonates and thus fractures.

Boniva only comes in a 30 day in one pill supply. I am scared of taking that kind of dose. I can try actonel but I would have to pay for that myself. $14 a week.

Has anyone been taking Boniva for a long time? If so, what has your experience been?

I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis and the doctor recommended taking once monthly Boniva. I have never had a fracture and no one in my family has had osteoporosis or a bone fracture. I am 59 years old and active and have been in menopause for one year.

Two years ago I tried the Boniva and it affected my stomach and back so I wanted to try a more natural approach. Any comments will be greatly appreciated!!

For me, I am going to continue on Ibandronate (generic Boniva) for awhile, but may consider this type of supplement as well. Any thoughts on the Book , Menopause Manifesto or the supplement Nee Chapter Bone Strength? Thanks you and enjoy the Memorial Day weekend!

My journey and experience with PMR since September 2021. I had some core inclusion criteria for PMR, including blood results ( ESR and CRP ) were high. My doctor put me on Boniva first and I hurt so badly, he stopped it after the first dose. He then put me on Prolia and I did well on it. This spring, he told me that it was now reccommeded, to use only for 5 years and took me off of it.

I have taken Actonel, Boniva, Forteo and Fosamax already. I really did not want to consider this because of the possibility of side affects lasting for 6 months. Then decided it is probably the right step.

Posted many times about gca dx that started over 2 yrs ago. Just a month into prednisone treatment a dexa showed osteoporosis- worst was right femoral neck -2.9. Just had 2 and dexa allnumbers worse. R femoral neck -3.3. Overall percentage change -8.7%. Very disappointing results for taking this poison

Took Boniva for 2 years and condition worsened to spine dexa -5.3 and hip -3.5. Prescribed Tymlos but $700./month was excessive. Now MD wants me on Boniva again, despite initial severe worsening. Advice?

He has osteopenia in 1 hip and osteoporosis in other hip—didn’t know this before the DEXA scan; his primary put him on Boniva. Is this good enough or does he need one of the bone strengthening meds mentioned here? Wondering if anyone else has gone this route?
