Darolutamide vs Proxalutamide - for a Hail Mary??
"Synonymous Alterations": ARL729L 0.6% I thought it was odd that Guardant suggests
Bicalutamide
(Casodex), which he took for a few months right after being diagnosed 3 years ago. Genetic tests, 3 years ago, of his tumor revealed somatic BRCA 2 and VHL (no idea what VHL is??)

Radiation with or without Antiandrogen Therapy in Recurrent PCa - a follow-up.
The conclusion was that: "The addition of 24 months of antiandrogen therapy with daily
bicalutamide
to salvage radiation therapy resulted in significantly higher rates of long-term overall survival and lower incidences of metastatic prostate cancer and death from prostate cancer than radiation therapy

Inverse Regulation of DHT Synthesis Enzymes 5α-Reductase Types 1 & 2 by the Androgen Receptor in Prostate Cancer - Endocrinology, April 2017
Furthermore, we showed that the antiandrogens
bicalutamide
and enzalutamide block the AR-mediated regulation of both SRD5A1 and SRD5A2, highlighting an additional mechanism explaining their beneficial effects in patients.

Bicalutamide
had been approved by the FDA a few years earlier. The paper presents an anecdotal case of a man "in whom flutamide controlled disease progression for 10 years" "after

failure".

All prostate cancer questions?
Has anyone experienced nausea when on Casodex(
bicalutamide
) daily pill and every three month hormone therapy injection? If yes, when did the nausea start? Is the nausea throughout the day or only when eating? What did you or the Dr do to help the nausea?

1st Lupron Shot - what to expect?
I'll also drop from the 150 mg
Bicalutamide
to 50mg. I'm a little nervous - not just the big needle, but I've not really been adequately briefed on what to expect. I keep active and will increase my weights regime to try to stave off muscle loss. What else can I expect?

Therapies Targeted to Androgen Receptor SignalingAxis in Prostate Cancer: Progress, Challenges, and Hope - published December 2019
Progesterone, estrogen, f lutamide,
bicalutamide
, and enzalutamide can activate AR with the T878A point mutation [17-19]. T878A was the f irst identif ied point mutation of AR driven by flutamide, but T878A also exerts resis-tance to second-generation AR agonists [20].

Stinging skin, no rash. Ideas?
Addition of Zytiga advised after radiation but judged contraindicated because I was liver toxic from 3 months of initial
bicalutamide
, took 5 months to normalize LFTs. Had major liver consult and work-up. Just approved for apalutamide as less likely liver toxic, haven’t started it.

Everything about Prostate Cancer
The oncologist put him on a hormone therapy Casodex(
bicalutamide
) daily pill and every three month hormone therapy injection. The hope is to stop the spread or shrink the cancer. Also he gets a monthly IV infusion of Zometa to help with bone damage caused by cancer spread to bone.

Pupdog concern
Two years ago I started elagard and
bicalutamide
as I had a psa reading three years after prostate removal. Readings had been undetectable until the latest which was .06. Dr. Is not concerned. I have been under the impression that my readings should be undetectable. Am I wrong (I hope)?

PSMA PET Results post-Chemo and what to do next?
- He wants to start Casodex 50 mg (
Bicalutamide
) once a day, and if there is a rise in PSA/descrease of blood levels/pain he will then consider shifting to Zytiga. Mo's initial plan was to start Zytiga immediately, but now due to good response to chemo and a very low PSA, he wants to wait.

MONOTHERAPY FOR NEWLY DIAGNOSED PROSTATE CANCER
Since I'm only using casodex (
bicalutamide
, which blocks PCa cells from UTILIZING testosterone), not combined with a Testosterone (T) PRODUCTION blocker (T is grrrreat! for almost all other organs, esp. my BRAIN!), the next step could be blocking T production as well, which I remain loathe to do.
