Hi good people

After finishing my treatment of my Lymph Nodes 1/4/2108 in Germany, the oncology Dr.Carsten Weise told me to take Bicalutamide 150mg until 31/10/2019.

I did a PSA Blod test 26/11/2019 the result was <0.10 µg/L.

N.B: Results based on 26 days of bicalutamide 150mg discontinuation.

Thanks for reading

George

I guess Dr. Weise is the radiation oncologist who did the brachytherapy. His recommendation probably had the intention to add ADT to the radiation, like in this study:

nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/N...

In this study they used Bicalutamide.

Why put a date to stop bicalutamide? Ride it for all its worth.

Presumably because, if you don't need it, don't take it. No point in hastening resistance.

No Canceros, gerat to hear you had a positive response. Did you have brachytherapy on the lymph nodes? Interesting to see how Germany seems to be leading the field in novel treatments. I'm likely to be heading to Frankfurt for IRE-CT in December. I'm hoping for a similarly impressive result!

Magnus, I was thinking that too. But the other side of the coin is the side effects of high dose bicalutamide.

What dosage are you on? Casodex has fewer side effects than other ADT drugs.

Magnus, I'm on 50 mg bicalutamide PLUS Lupron (4 mo) PLUS Avodart. I think my MO has decided I will now be "on" for the rest of our lives; my psa hangs about 0.3-0.4. I started as GS6, T3b, 22 yrs ago. I'm ok with it.

I would assume your side effects were coming from Lupron.

Magnus: I have to say that I've been lucky over the years. Other than some minor hot flashes early on from Lupron, I haven't had any issues. Of course, I did have a heart attack two years ago (age 81) that required triple bypass. But my dad died of heart attack at age 50, so I really can't blame the lupron. I have been fairly active-walking dogs and playing racquetball - and I think that did help. Have a good Thanksgiving

Sounds good so far. Hopefully, your PSA will remain undetectable as the effects of the bicalutamide wear off.
