Alcohol intolerance. Is alcohol dehydrogenase causing our continued issues even after b12 injections?
I posted previously in regards to having issues with being able to drink any amount of alcohol without feeling like I got run over by a truck. Several others posted they also have this issue. I've been doing some research and alcohol dehydrogenase seems to pop up in several of the articles. https

Do meds change your taste buds?
My daughter was transplanted at 9 months. She is now almost 4. I have heard that Prograf and other drugs can affect how food tastes. She is on tacro, prednisone and a bunch of other meds. She loves very salty food. She doesn't know any different, but for the adults have the medications changed how food

Hi all new here.
Doctor has prescribed
Prograne
beta
blockers that I must say are helping me manage the headaches and the anxiety. I have been experiencing some hot flushes in both arms recently, it feels like someone is pouring hot water down into my veins. I can also get a little sweaty when this happens.

Success!
Hey all, My kidney transplant went well and I'm on the road to recovery. I've had some bumps but over all, I'm doing much better with a gfr of 93. (Big jump from 11!) My phosphorus was so low they decided to do an emergent infusion and that has helped. I'm struggling to adapt to the prograf as it gives

New kidney precipitant - 4 months post
Hi everyone, I'm new here. Nice to know this is out here! I am 4 months post kidney transplant. My wonderful husband was my donor and we are both doing really well. My new kidney is working great, however, I'm having a hard time dealing with some of the side effects from I believe is the prograf.

Phytanic Acid
Sisira brought the subject up, in the context of red meat. He quotes Dr. Myers" "He says in more than 100 papers in scientific literature that he has read, phytanic acid present in these foods can promote the growth and spread of prostate cancer." & "Dr. Patrick Walsh in his book "Guide to Surviving

Beta-carotene thoughts
I've always been an advocate of healthy eating and the use of natural remedies when possible. I'm not stupid enough to discard conventional medicine when danger strikes so I'm not a fruitloop. I know I will have to stop taking my supplements once the chemo starts next week but I wonder if anyone has

End of my tether
Well I went through the eradication therapy and for a week I felt better. After I stopped the course, a few days later the agonising pain started again. Now my GP has been changed as the previous one closed down. We are stuck in a rut and we can't get appointments for 3 weeks. This is the pathetic waiting

Best form of Selenium Supplement: Selenomethionine
Hello, I need to buy a new box of my selenium supplement. The one I was using was from a brand called "Sentinel" and has other vitamins added to such as A and C and beta carotene, things I don't think I need. Now, I'm looking for a good brand. I've listened to an interview about Selenium and thyroid

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Fats - [1] Oleic & Stearic Acids – (Olive Oil & Animal Fat)
This is the first installment in a discussion of dietary fats, with respect to prostate cancer. Consideration is also given to cardiovascular health. The primary focus is on the cancer paradox: that the ratio of oleic acid to stearic acid increases as cancer progresses. Does it make sense to limit

Clinical trials: post transpant management of anti-rejection medications
I have been invited to take part in a clinical trial to reduce (completely?) anti-rejection meds. I am currently on .5 mg Prograf x 2 and 500mg MMF x 1 which I realise is quite low. Is there anyone out there who has dropped these entirely? If so, could you share experiences, either here or via message

Chronic kidney disease & haven't been told
Hello all I had my recent clinic appointment and it hasn't been great. I had an ultrasound which showed coarse echo texture and slight irregular liver transplant. Also they've found a small lesion. I will be having a CT scan in April I think. What surprised me is that the letter they sent to GP had '

Hi there guys, I'm almost 4 years post transplant and doing well. Recently I have been having kidney problems so my consultant has reduced prograf to help protect my kidneys. I have gone from 11mg per day to 8mg as well as 500mg twice a day of cellpet (mychophenolate). The last few days I've been experiencing
