Atrial myxoma. New post.

I was immediately taken into hospital and this time correctly diagnosed with an atrial myxoma in my left atria. Somewhat of a shock. After a week in the wonderful Basildon Cardiac Hospital I was operated on to remove the tumour. That was Tuesday 6 October 2020.

Flecainide maintenance dose

I’m now on 50mg of flec twice a day as well as 1.25mg of bisoprolol. It’s been fine with no noticeable side effects but was hoping that the ectopics I was getting frequently before the maintenance dose would disappear after. Whilst they do seem to have reduced in number I still get milder ones most days

Root canal or tooth out with afib ?

Hi all. I don't want to kick off my afib again. I posted a week or so ago about gum infection affecting my heart rate and afib. Sorted now with antibiotics. However it needs something doing - just chewing on one side. The dentist said either have a root canal or just take it out. It's a back tooth but

Post cardioversion advice?

Hi All, My first post but I’ve found this forum so useful in recent weeks so firstly a big thank you to those who contribute such useful material and advice! A short history - I’m 37 and have thankfully been very fit and healthy other than mild asthma up until becoming unwell with suspected COVID last

Supplements and Radiation Therapy

I am 69 and was diagnosed approximately 4 months ago with locally advanced Ductal Adenocarcinoma of the Prostate, Gleason 8, with seminal vessel involvement. I've been on Eligard for 3 months and had blood tests yesterday but I don't have any results to share yet. I also had a CT SIM yesterday in preparation

Afib and heart problems

AF and Bradycardia I have had Afib for over 15 years. It was acquired from decades of intense training. I had a congenital heart defect(bi-leaflet Aortic valve) and was stricken with Endocarditis after a dental procedure. After the successful valve replacement the doctors had me on Tykosyn (Difatulide

Cryoballoon and RF Ablation

I had a cryoballoon ablation on Dec 1, 2020. 3 days later I finally slept on my stomach. Got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, laid back down and my chest started booming and I went into Afib. The same thing happened to me on the night before the procedure. does anyone else have to sleep on their back and other questions

I find there are times when I can't sleep on my right side (I never sleep on my left) without my heart playing up. I have trained myself to sleep on my back but I've never heard anyone else suffering this. Also, when I'm reading in bed, I have to hold the book off my chest, or this also causes missed

Trebuie anticoagulant

Hi! after a 24-hour holter, thousands of ventricular extrasystoles were detected. Because they are symptomatic (I have strong palpitations at night) I was prescribed beta-blockers and ACE inhibitors. Do I also need anticoagulants? I have a pacemaker, I had bradycardia, my heart is healthy, the mitral

Need to know which Atrial Fibrillation or Atrial Flutter before scheduled Ablation Procedure?

Atrial Flutter or Atrial Fibrillation ? Difficult to determine which it is when heart is racing 140s 180’s 200 . Will an EP study determine which it is? From my understanding, the EP study can manipulate different arrhythmias , therefore not a diagnostic procedure? 6 episodes in 8 months 5 resolved

Change in nature of Afib after ablation?

Hi. Just wondering if anyone has experienced a change in the nature of their afib after ablation. I had my first ablation at St Thomas's in London at the beginning of last November. I've been ok till about three weeks ago when the dreaded AF returned. Before the ablation my experience of AF was paroxysmal

Recording an ECG

My EP has been telling me about the apple watch that records an ECG, he then says you can download it to your phone and send it over, so it can be seen and confirmed if you are in afib or just having ectopics. As I have an Android phone and not an i - phone, can anybody recommend an alternative please

Diltiazem v Bisoprolol & Felodipine

Have ongoing (daily episodes) of paroxysmal AF - more palpitations than actual racing heartbeat. Recently prescribed Diltiazem instead of Bisoprolol & Felodipine. Anyone on this or changed to it from a beta blocker??
