Bigeminy, Kardia readings, dinner etc

Too often after eating a small meal between 5:00 & 6:30pm, I’ll notice I have rather frequent bigeminy beats. Most of the time, this is always in the evening, after dinner when I’m relaxing, my body sitting upright but in a comfy chair with my legs up.

Is it weird that this occurs mostly and always in the evening, quite a few times during the week? I relax and watch something funny and do my breathing exercises and just wait until it’s time to take my evening Flecainide because it often won’t resolve until then.

At different times during yesterday evening, I felt bigeminy oddness with my heart, and my Kardia indicated sinus rhythm with supraventricular ectopy, sinus rhythm with premature ventricular contractions, or sinus rhythm with wide QRS. It was scary & my intervention strategies (slow deep controlled breathing, bearing down, coughing etc etc) did *not* work until I took my evening Flecainide.

THEN at 3:00am, after I got up to use the bathroom, I went back to bed & within a minute I was in tachycardia! This is the second or third time this has happened over the last couple of years so now I have anxiety about going to urinate! Thankfully PIP of Diltiazem worked. This experience, occurring too too often, makes me scared & anxious. For a few personal private reasons, I will not get an ablation.

Is any is this “normal” considering this mongrel condition? Thanks!!

In the old days people in England used to go for a ‘little constitutional’ - gentle walk - after dinner to encourage digestion. Maybe try that? I’ve found that bigeminy responds well to movement. I’m wondering what exactly you call a small dinner? I only ask because I have USA friends on FB who describe meals and I’m astounded by the quantity! So please don’t be offended x

Thanks for the suggestion of a small walk after dinner. My dinner is usually less than a cup of lettuce with 2 teaspoons of salad dressing, 4 ounces of protein like salmon or skinless chicken, and about half a cup of steamed mixed veggies (carrots, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower), plain , no butter on them. Sometimes I’ll have a small dinner roll with 1/2 teaspoon of butter.

That sounds admirably healthy and definitely a small dinner so not putting any pressure on your heart. It must be very frustrating x

Your situation sounds oh so familiar to what ive been through. I did actually have a "study" done that was "inconclusive ". That means an attempt at an ablation that failed due to inability to induce tachycardia. My incidents of svt and or ectopic were definitely tied to indigestion and relaxed state, not activity or stress, like a so called panic attack. What's finally worked for me is a twice daily dose of diltiazem with a metoprolol kicker. I admire your attempts to stem this naturally, I tried the same, but after coming to understand thru my cardio how ectopics trigger svt and the complex electrical signals involved, I opened up to the medication route. Diltiazem has not in 4years caused me any side effects and is supposed to be very safe long term. It did take a while to get to the most effective dosage, but it's been well worth it. It's given me back a life, and confidence to go out and do things again, and enjoy life without so much worry. Apologies for the ramble, but I hope this helps in some way. Best of luck to you, and hang in there. Ryan
