You're looking at the right places. Both are top 10 high volume centers.

In addition to having an ep consult, you might also get a second consult with a cardiothoracic surgeon who do surgical ablations such as mini-maze or hybrid. Since you mentioned "chronic persistent" sometimes a surgical ablation may work better.

As to the ep, I've recently read about Cardioneuroablation which is an add-on to the PVI. I saw some YouTube videos by Dr. Guru Kowlgi of Mayo in Rochester on this, and if I needed another afib ablation, he might be one person I would contact.

Good luck.

~I have been in a similar situation as you - my ablation lasted 3 weeks.

As a result, I underwent a pacemaker implant followed by AV node ablation - the latter being a drastic measure but could not stand the constant a/fib which was and still is classified as chronic. The AV node ablation has removed any awareness of the constant pounding in my chest.

In NZ we are not blessed with the mini-maze nor hybrid option/s which I would have 100% preferred.

Good luck~

Thank you so much for responding. I think I am going to go to Cleveland Clinic for my next step. No follow-up given after Cardioversion one week ago (failed) no call from Dr office or follow up appt weeks and weeks to get appt here. I just have to be my own advocate.

~Indeed I fully endorse your comment on being our own best advocate. The world has vastly changed on all fronts.

I am precisely in this league of keeping "my finger on the pulse" in every way possible.
