Is it possible to get rid of excess iodine in my body?
High iodine in my my body was caused by a drug, namely
Amiodarone
prescribed for afib. Stopped taking this drug on 10 August. This drug is toxic due to very high iodine content that stays in the body for a very long time (half life).

amiodarone effect on NDT
Hi Everyone.I've just had a heart op and have been put on
amiodarone
for three weeks. I know this drug is known to damage a healthy thyroid. I'm just wondering what effect it has on someone optimally treated for hypothyroidism with NDT.

Amiodarone- can anyone help me with their knowlege of this drug
I have been perscribed
Amiodarone
for a constant (I guess that is the correct word) arrythmia that is all over the place - it is irregular heart beat, afib, flutter and it has been going on for a while. I have been told it wont stop but that
Amiodarone
will stabalize the heart.

No more propafenone!!!! What???
Personally, I would opt for low dose
amiodarone
, but I'm afraid all the anecdotal scary stories about it might have chased it off the pharmacy shelves! Other than that, I guess it's just going to be "tough noogies, deal with it"?

What Meds ?
First medication was
Amiodarone
swelling of ankles and fatigue came off after a few months. Next up was Bisoprolol extreme fatigue. Told the GP I felt better off off of it so he said stop taking it if you want. I take Apixaban and Losartan.

Nervous to stop amiodarone, two months post-ablation
I am to stop taking my 200mg daily
amiodarone
on July 31st. (Started temporarily two months prior and two months post-ablation). My question is for those of you who have done the same. Did your AF return soon after stopping
amiodarone
, did you stay AF-free, or somewhere inbetween?

Post ablation short of breath
I was taking Diltiazem & blood thinners since diagnosis and post ablation
Amiodarone
has been added. I am very short of breath now walking up a modest incline. I am wondering if the anaesthetic gases are the cause. Or is it the addition of
Amiodarone
?

Amiodarone and pre-existing hypothyroidism
Could this be the
amiodarone
that is lowering the effects of the levothyroxine? Blood tests don’t show a need for any changes to the dosage I’m on 75mg daily.

Advice urgently needed: Endo reducing levo dose yet again based on flawed blood results.
Acording to endo
Amiodarone
is still pushing T4 over range hence a further reduction of levo. Incidentally, this is the first I have seen endo in over 3 years.

Bnp level
Before the procedure I was prescribed various beta blockers and
amiodarone
but none of the meds worked. Since June 2022 I still struggle, weakness in my legs, anxiety, breathlessness, cough. It's not been a easy journey, not long after my procedure I had pneumonia and was hospitalized again.

Amiodarone and Thyroid
I have never previously had any abnormal thyroid results and all bloods were ok before I was prescribed
amiodarone
in December. I was tested again in Feb 2 months after starting
Amiodarone
(which put me back in SNR and I've remained there since January)..

Amiriodone & NDT update
So I was put on
Amiodarone
post heart surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago. I thought it was a three week course but it's not. Now on 200mg per day for the next few months . And yes I think it's messing my thyroid hormones up.

Post Op Clinic today
He has taken me off three of the regular drugs (Ticagrelor,
Amiodarone
and Lansoprazole) and recommended a review in two months of a fourth (Furosemide). That gets rid of one I really wanted to stop,
Amiodarone
, as I get the shakes at times as a side effect.

Holiday insurance while waiting for a procedure
Just informed the insurance company (Staysure) and even though my Atrial Flutter is completely stable and controlled by
amiodarone
they now say they won't cover Aflutter OR ANY OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS now.
