Substitute Eplerenone for Prednisone with Zytiga?
The reason to give prednisone with abiraterone is to reduce the increase in aldosterone caused by zytiga inhibition of cortisol which leads to an increase in
ACTH
and in Aldosterone a hormone which is not blocked by abiraterone.

THE HPA AXIS OR THE TRIO.
The
ACTH
test (also called the cosyntropin, tetracosactide, or Synacthen test) is a medical test usually ordered and interpreted by endocrinologists to assess the functioning of the adrenal glands stress response by measuring the adrenal response to adrenocorticotropic hormone (
ACTH
;corticotropin).

Has anybody noticed activation of HPA axis with liothyronine use ?
Other causes of ocult acrivation via
ACTH
were excluded (ex exogenous tumor
acth
production/SCLC) Long story short, that
ACTH
stayed about 10%-25% over the max threshold for 6 years, while adding between 20 and 30 mg of liothyronine to 100-150 levothyroxine.

Short Synacthen Test
I asked my endo’s secretary to send a copy of above test results as I was advised by someone on here that it should have an
ACTH
test. I received the results this morning and
ACTH
wasn’t tested. My baseline cortisol was 342nmol - does that mean that my
ACTH
is ok? Any help appreciated.

Lung function tests: help interpreting what it means
This was on Seretide (ICS + LABA) , at a dose that totally suppressed my
ACTH
and adrenals, but it has been a wonderful medicine for my asthma. I have been reducing the dose a lot since the lung test.

cushing’s syndrome with graves disease
Blood test showed my Thyroid function (tsh and t4) was within normal range but one of my adrenal (
acth
) hormones was well above the normal range. Further urine, blood and saliva tests are being ordered to rule out Cushing’s.

Chronically fatigued 18 year old daughter - trying to make sense of her blood test results
ACTH
- still waiting for this result, but endo says it will be fine as she passed the SST with flying colours. IGF1 - 37.9 All female hormones were in range when tested although she does have very irregular periods.
