Adrenals First
I read and read that most reasons for hypothyroidism can be the result of stress and we should work on maintaining health care on our Adrenals. I am 70 years old looking after a very miserable 94 1/2 year old mother who has hated me from the day I was born. She had been diagnosed with type two diabetes

Potassium iodide
When my son and I became suspicious about 2 years ago that we might have an iodine deficiency, we stumbled on Lugol's Solution and took 3 drops of it in our food for a few months. Extensive reading brought me to "Betadine", a potassium iodide solution sold in stores as an anti-biotic for scraps and minor

Help! Lump on neck has grown and was given the latest blood tests which has some questions!
hi Friends, I just came back from the medical center with a print out of my blood tests they took on Monday. 3 weeks ago while slouching on the sofa ( bending my head forward) that I felt like I had something a bit tight around my neck (it was like a strangling feeling). And it became uncomfortable

Supplementing with iodine if on T3 ONLY and testing low for iodine
Dear all, I'm hoping GreyGoose will chime in here. For past 6 months (3 blood tests), my iodine levels have been untraceable (so low, they can't give a number). Before that I have no idea we never tested. I just took another test, so will know next week, but it seems three tests over six months are

Thyroiditis again two years after RAI
Hi brand new to the site and grateful for any advice please. I had Radioiodine treatment 2 years ago after thyroiditis with enlarged multinodular goitre. I can't remember the figures but very high thyroid antibodies. I went overactive initially after the RAI but then settled on 150mg Levothyroxine,

Iodine solution?!?! Making me vomit!!
I've been given iodine to take for 7 days prior to surgery, surgery is Monday so I've had 2 doses so far today! It's awful! Brown, nasty tasting stuff that leaves my mouth and throat burning! I was actually sick after the last dose! Does it have to be taken in liquid form?? Can I mix it with anything

Life or death... Or IVIG.
Thanks to you lovely people and great support group advice, I have my first IVIG INFUSION in two days in Portland, Oregon. I had FCR six years ago.... Cll/SLL Stage 4, Rai II. My FCR was stopped by the 5th month because I was so very toxic. Very aggressive FCR and I just never recovered. Always had

Confused re consultation with endo.
I have waited 3 months to see a specific endocrinologist who can prescribe NDT. On arrival at the hospital I saw a registrar not the consultant requested. I have had RAI but am only on 75mcg and 100mcg on alternate days, however my blood test results are: TSH 0.17 0.3-4.2 Free T4 18.1. 12

Is there link between long-term consumption of the oral contraception pill triggering grave disease?
Over 4 years a ago I was diagnosed with graves disease, it all started a couple of months after I went of the contraceptive pill for the first time in a decade. When I was diagnosed I went back on the Pill and have been on it ever since. In the subsequent 2 years I was on 2 types of anti thyroid medication

Iodine
I've come across conflicting info about iodine. Is it best not to supplement if you have hashimotos?

Hello, I was diagnosed with Graves almost 3 yrs ago and had RAI. The last few weeks I`ve been feeling a bit under par so sent for a private blood test. I`m taking 100 mcg levothyroxine 5 x times a week and 75 mcg 2x times a week . I was tested for vit deficiency too and I can see I`m low on Vit

Mineral mix
I find that each time I take my mineral mix ( Dr M ) I get a flare of painful neck and breasts, a dry throat, breathless feeling pain in muscles and not feeling right at all. I,m wondering if I have thyroiditis and if the iodine content in the mix is causing this.......anyone had similar?

Does RAI worsen T4 to T3 conversion?
I had Graves, then RAI in 1990, then hypo and on Levo, mostly 175mcg. Something changed in 2014, and I became very very ill. T4 at top of range, T3 at the bottom. I started T3 in 2016, and wow my life came back. Does anyone know how much RAI affects T4 to T3 conversion? The Endo told me at the time of
