Has anyone developed Sweet's syndrome lesions after an insect bite?

On rare occasions, Sweet's lesions have been reported to have developed secondary to an insect bite. It would be interesting to know if any member of this group has experienced this.

Thanks. x

Hello, Yes my initial diagnosis of Sweet's came via biopsy came from a lesion that started from a spider bite. The lesions covered more than 50% of my leg from ankle to knee by the time a biopsy was performed. This was after urgent care treated it. Followed by my own doctor changing the meds, with no success. So a referral to a dermatologist, who initially treated for a fungus infection with no success and finally the biopsy.

Thanks Revin4God! That's interesting to know. There's an ongoing discussion about this on the Sweet's Syndrome UK Facebook group right now.

Hi, interestingly, when I first went to my doctor with my lesions/rashes and various other symptoms the first thing they asked me was, had I been out of the country or been bitten by any insects..... I hadn't. I have now been diagnosed with Sweet's but despite many blood tests, x-Rays, skin biopsies  and other tests they are still unsure as to what triggered it. I am being treated for anaemia though as a result of the findings of the blood tests.

Hi Sportster,

In up to 71% of cases there is no underlying trigger for SS.

Hope your anaemia is now resolving.  x
