Out of curiosity, does anyone have more than one skin condition? I developed eczema at the same time as my SS. In my case, there doesn't seem to be any connection between the two, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

I also have another skin condition in addition to Sweet's. It's a patchy rash mainly on my arms & legs, but also got patches on my shoulders, neck & abdomen. My GP wasn't sure what it was, but dermatologist initially said it was eczema, but I didn't agree for the simple fact that it's not itchy at all. However, it does look very much like eczema so I understood why it was thought to be that. I pushed for a biopsy & eventually had one early last year - result was "non-specific but lichenoid in appearance", which didn't exactly tell us a lot but did confirm my suspicions that it's not actually eczema. Have been using Betnovate cream, just in summer though as it doesn't bother me in winter when I am covered up (even though it doesn't itch it is quite unsightly). The cream damps it down a bit so it's not so noticeable, but it doesn't get rid of it altogether. As you say, it doesn't appear to be connected to my SS, but I wonder about that as it just seems a bit of a coincidence as it started shortly after my diagnosis. Is this anything like your experience?
I definitely have eczema, but there doesn't seem to be any connection between my SS and eczema as one condition can flare up without the other. However, I did find it strange that I developed the two skin conditions at exactly the same time. SS is associated with some skin conditions, e.g. pyoderma gangrenosum, psoriasis and urticaria. Perhaps more research needs to be done to find a connection between SS and other skin conditions. As you say, developing two conditions around the same time does seem more than a bit coincidental. SS - it's a mystery!
Hi shell, I experienced the same thing got diagnosed with ss and then shortly after got told I have exzema too, I think its a vit strange just glad im not the only personthat it's happened too.
I agree by the way this is Arlene it's been awhile since I've been able to post comments on here or ssuk but I am doing a little better so I can. I have been telling everyone about the Facebook page as it was the one place that made me keep my sanity. Thank you I owe you my life. X
It's great to hear that you've been doing a bit better. I know that you've had a really rough time with SS. Thanks ever so much for spreading awareness of the SS groups. It really is appreciated!
Hi i was diagnosed with Sweet's back in 2006-2007, which cleared up then i started with Vasculitus Hsp, which went it starts really badly causes me to have out breaks of sweets, i have had several sores on my legs through the sweets, but when i try to explain to my local hospital what it is they say it is something different, i know that Cellulitis is the same thing but i know my own body & what it looks like,I havent had a break out of sweets for 2 years now so i am hoping that it stays away, i suffer from tiredness & stiffness but put it down to the other conditions i have got x
It can be so difficult. Most doctors have very little or no understanding of SS. Things become even more complicated when you have another condition alongside your SS, as you don't always know which condition is causing your symptoms.
Good to hear that you haven't had a SS flare-up in 2 years, and I hope that your HSP is settling too.
