Where to do the podcasts?

I'd be glad to hear where and how other folk are doing with these podcasts as I discovered that on a random walk with the dog on the lead, it's not really a goer. I'm really pushed to think of anywhere I can walk and have the right height props at the right time.

Hi GoogleMe,

The park is probably your best bet. You need a bench and a fence or some railings - both of which are common features of a park. That said you can also do this at home in your garden if you've got some of these features or at your local gym. A bit of improvisation may be necessary but make sure whatever you use is sold and stable!

You don't need much space for the workouts as there's no running involved, just walking in between the exercises (which are all on the spot). The trickiest prop is probably the railings. You need to find something at shoulder height that you can hold on to.

See the videos of all the moves here:

Keep the questions coming!

Good luck!

I'm doing the podcasts inside ...with curtains drawn! Wouldn't feel comfortable doing them outside in public, esp. on my own. The only prop I've had trouble with is the shoulder height one for pull-ups - I tried using the bookshelf but nearly pulled it down on me, so now I've moved to the mantelpiece which is really too high. I live in fear I'll wrench it off the wall but so far so good.

Sooz,

Have you tried a door frame? You could hold on to opposite sides of a door frame and pull yourself up.

I've been doing them in my local park. A few people do exercises there so I dont feel too self-conscious except doing the rowing exercises etc at the beginning so I try to find a spot with no-one around for those. The pull-ups are great using railings - I really enjoy those. Not sure what I'll do when the weather's not so good tho'

Jeeniej,

One of the few advantages of bad weather is you can cover up, making yourself less conspicuous when exercising in the park! Also, the park will be deserted and you'll have the place to yourself and, perhaps a few drunken bench hoggers!

Just did my first one inside because I thought I'd feel silly outside. As it happened my family were around and they all found it really funny. Might try outside next time - where nobody knows me!

Good luck Pelephant. Let us know how you get on. Given the choice, I'd always exercise outdoors - it feels more invogorating. Round my neck of the woods, I often see people exercising in the park, just doing their own thing.
