Yoga and Stuff... JUNE WEEK 3... WHY WASTE TIME... USE IT...!

Hello everyone. Welcome!

Here I am , reporting from a slightly different venue... just coming to the end of a few days break in the Shropshire countryside.!

Limited sunshine, icy winds and lots of rain... and thunder too :)

BUT... a few hours of sun, some gorgeous sunsets and the glorious countryside has worked its magic.

So:

Regular exercise routine has been a little neglected, but morning routines are just a wonderful habit. I have run, not far, and walked, too, a fair bit, but used, mainly, these days to relax, recharge and refresh.

As we have been out and about, I have, as most of us do,, at some time or other, spent some time standing...in a queue! It is part of our lives really, at least for a lot of us... queues in shops, supermarkets, post offices or banks ( If you are lucky enough to find either of those)!Queues for buses or trains; at airports or for the delights of theatre or concerts!

This got me thinking and then, having thought, yes, you have guessed it... I started researching and exploring!

Now, when I find myself in a queue, especially a shop, I usually people watch … I look at the shopping and try to work out what meal they are buying for, are they buying for family or just themselves , is it weekly shop day, or a special event shop. But, again, since I have been doing more yoga,, with Adriene, specifically, I do something else.

I breathe... well, I breathe all the time, but I breathe in a special way!

First, I make sure I am standing comfortably, put my basket down, let go of my trolley handle and I relax.

The mountain pose is in my head...A super, strong and grounded pose. Feet, slightly apart, I tuck my tummy in and stand tall. I try to relax my shoulders and let my arms hang loosely by my side.

Then I breathe !

Think like a tree and focus on that breath... take that air in deep and down into the belly...fill your being with the power and then, breathe out... coming up from your belly, exhale and let the shoulders drop, and as that air is expelled... let anxiety and stress be expelled too:)

The main, very simple thing, you can do here, especially if you feel the other folk standing in the queue may wonder what the heck you are doing, is, just ground yourself.

Again, think like a tree. Stand firm. Tall, but relaxed, feel the ground under your feet, imagine yourself rooted, quite literally to the spot.

Stand calm and stand strong...You are part of the earth and it is part of you.; connecting it and yourself, even for a brief time.

You may think what I am saying, is impossible to do, and a waste of time... all I can tell you is... it is a fantastically simple way to re-focus and refresh...

It is a great start for the rest if your day...

Maybe, even some of you have done similarly...?

Thank you. I certainly is not something just for the mat ... I find myself using little yoga tips in so many situations... and it really helps... like this morning's short jogette when I ran up my hill again for the second time:)

I am loving Wavy-chick28 's Yoga fir life.. and incorporating it with your, "not just for the mat! I may use that in another post!

Makes good sense, I can’t run anymore as I have several health problems, so I practice yoga instead, it’s brought me back to my old self after been deflated for a long time. I miss my running so very much, but with practicing my yoga I’m coping.

Hello and welcome to you! This is a great reason for using the Yoga! Those three As I am always talking about... Acknowledge, Accept and Adapt.

Circumstances change, life changes directions and not always in the way we would wish for... and acceptance may be difficult. I know i have found it so... but if we can do that, then there is another route to take.

Yoga has brought you back to your old self. Wow... Power for your body and your mind. Keep it up... and a HUGE well cone to you x

What a fab idea, will help with the stress of queuing too ! I do a few breathing techniques when I’m driving too as I have lately been quite anxious behind the wheel, yoga for life!!
