🧘🏽 Thanks to cheekychipmunks 👏👍🏽🙏🙏 and her post a few weeks ago, many of us are joining in with YWA 30-day challenge in January themed “Breath”. Cheekychipmunk’s original post is at healthunlocked.com/strength...
🧮 I have counted more than 18 of our VWB (or rather VYB - virtual yoga bodies) signing up, including me!!! So roll call below and let me know if I missed out anyone!
👩❤️💋👨I can’t wait, have even persuaded my hubby to join me and have just today tried out my new double thickness yoga mat… mmmmhhh…. which is very kind to my knees. XMas present from said hubby… now that’s love! (And he gets to keep his mat for himself from now on🤣🤣)
💻 For info, there is also a YWA app with a specific “room” for “Breath” but we of course will also hopefully mingle here on our Strength and Flex forum, moaning about those stiff limbs or - in my case - the seemingly impossibility of relaxing into Child’s Pose! But for those on the YWA app, I can be found there as CBDB as well, so if you see me there, say hi!
📣 So here is our roll call and do share with others and can’t wait to read how everyone will be doing once we have started on that journey of BREATH:

Hi all! I've just been catching up on my 30 days of yoga practice (have doubled up some of the shorter practices to make up on a few days lost to cold/Christmas busyness), should finish on new year's eve ready for Breath in the new year.
There's nothing like a nice new yoga mat CBDB - really glad I invested in mine last year as it is so comfy and secure.
Thanks for the shout-out CBDB ! I can’t claim any special affiliation to Adriene, but I’ve been doing her yoga practices regularly (almost daily) for 3 years and found a massive improvement in my strength and flexibility. I’ve remained (*touches wood frantically*) injury free in my running and I’m sure yoga has helped. 😀 There are things I can do now which surprise me - my favourite being Crow!
Just a heads-up, January 1st will be an introduction to Breath which might catch people out. It starts in earnest on January 2nd and runs until the 31st.
I’m so glad so many people are keen to join in. There are several HU members on Strava who already share their daily Adriene workouts, so to have more will be fun. 😀 We can compare notes here and/or there!
Hahaha yes, when I first attempted crow I couldn’t even lift a toe off the ground but now it’s my go-to favourite fun pose and I can fly for 20+ seconds consistently - sometimes more. So practise definitely makes perfect! 💪
Another heads up is that Adriene has lots of “foundations” videos, so if there’s a pose which you don’t know, or need to work on, chances are there’ll be a video dedicated to just that. She makes yoga very user friendly. 👍
Yeah, she does. I’ve come across the foundation videos and have yet to systematically go through them.
I have to admit I had been searching for the equivalent of YWA for the Pilates world and there are some great instructors. But YWA is really something special, and she certainly has convinced me to give Yoga a very good try. And ... I’m loving it! (But am also still yearning for and doing Pilates)
I'll be there too. I've been following Adriene daily for about 14 months now and echo everything @cheekychipmunks says. I have missed just two days this year - one with a badly infected/bruised big toe having stood on a massive thorn and another because I forgot (how do you forget something you've done daily for almost a year?) and I love it. For the unititiated (as I was in November 2018) I remember struggling a bit for the first 2 to 3 weeks. Things I know now that I didn't know then? I soon got to know her cues and sequences - I would know before she said it that we were about to do a halfway lift, or to stand from our forward fold, or to move to down dog, or ... once you anticipate these transitions the moves flow much quicker and more naturally. Dont worry if it doesnt feel too elegant at first and do take the easier options on offer. Concentrate on enjoying it rather than mastering it and the mastery will unfold. Trickier poses like crow take a long time (but are SO worth working towards), and are a good example of why daily yoga practice can be so rewarding.
It will be great to have a group of us doing this. I hope you grow to love it CBDB 😊
Oh, one more tip (that may be obvious) - consider stepping off that deep padded mat for standing balance poses - the mat makes everything more wobbly 😃

OFF .... MY .... NEW .... MAT ???? 🤣🤣🤣
I might have to drag myself off for balance poses, but I love the feel just so much!
But great tip. I didn’t know.
I’m already loving her way of yoga, she already got me. I’m just a hopeless two-timer! 😉 Cheating Pilates with Yoga! Cheating RunLEJOG with conqueror! 🤣🤣🤣
I'm in! I started the 30 days one during lockdown mark one but only got to day 22 so hoping to complete this one and make it a habit just as running has become since completing the C25K in October 👍

Fabulous!!! Just added you to our roll call!! And huge congrats again. For finishing C25k, runner. Hope you have enjoyed your new running legs! Yoga will be great for them, as well! 👏👍🏽🙌💪🧘🏽
Great! Thanks for the reminder! I've been doing my own thing yoga wise most days as I wasn't getting home on time to do my zoom class, which I guess will continue for a fair while until it's safe to go back to a village hall. I need the structure to keep me moving! I'd love a thicker mat - is there a particular brand to recommend?
I seem to have missed any other posts abou tit, but signed up from Adrienne's email! 👏I started with the 30 days last January, then contributed all through lock down and the summer. Lost my way a but when back into full time to teaching in September, but still manage 3 or 4 each week (picking and choosing from the current months list!). 🧘Am hoping Breath will kick start my routine again!
P.s.dont like child's pose (prefer extended child's pose) - there are certain bits of me that are too big to do it comfortably!!! 😂

Brill! 👍🏽 have added you to our roll call.
“Extended child’s pose”, right! I’ll look that up! Might be something for me! Thank you! 🙏👍🏽
I signed up a few weeks ago (or at least I think I did). I plan to get myself organized for it (i.e. find my iPad and charge it up and load the app etc). I need something daily to improve my flexibility rather than the half hearted stretches I do when my muscles seize up! But whether I can keep it up is another matter...
Oh glory, I’ve just added my name to the list! This is going to give you a lot of laughs if nothing else - once I’m down on my mat the chances of my getting up again are, frankly, remote! See you on day 1!
Oh fabulous! We’ll have fun I’m sure! I’m with you there on the mat and not getting up again, now even harder with my new wonderful double layer mat. Who would want to get up from that again! 🤣🤣🤣
Count me in, please! 😊 Thanks so much for posting this too CBDB. I’ve been stuck on the IC for over 5 months now but yoga I’m allowed to do, albeit only with my trainers on. 😄 Been quietly reading everyone’s posts, keeping up to date with old VRBs and all the new ones too! It’ll be so lovely to be able to join in again, until I finally get the all clear to return to running. Thanks again! 😊

Brill! I’ve just added you to our roll call! Fabulous! See you at BREATH! 👍🏽💪👏🧘🏽
I’m in on this one CBDB, really looking forward to breathing in the new year
Calendar is out - first two sessions look quite long so probably quite a bit of talking then but after that it seems generally shorter so hopefully more yoga less talking!
Thank you for the reminder - signed up and raring to go. Quietest new year's eve ever on the cards, so unlikely to be battling poor sleep and a hangover for tomorrow's session.
Fab! See you at BREATH! For info, the real first workout will be on 2nd Jan, as I believe the first session on the 1st will be intro. At least that’s what many suggest who’ve done these 30 day challenges over the years. 👍🏽👏💪🧘🏽
