Half a knee half a knee now cured? Or is the consultant massaging the NHS figures?

I was referred to a orthopaedic surgeon nearly three years ago after complaining of knee pain, which has been ongoing for over twenty years. I had the X ray in picture done over 2.5 years ago. Saw a surgeon two years ago who wanted to put in two half knees, I asked if there was anything else, he said he would refer me to another surgeon that did osteotomy surgery. Yesterday I saw him and was told that I am now cured as there is no swelling, so no requirement for surgery. I have been drawing off synovial fluid for two years as when my bakers cyst gets large it causes a lot of stiffness and pain. I was draining off up to 15cc at a time, maybe twice a week, nowadays I haven't drained any off for a couple of months. I wonder if the continual replenishment of synovial fluid has helped repair the left knee, shown on the right. But as a further X ray hasn't been done I don't know. Do knees get better or am I just another number wiped off the waiting list?

Thats interesting, do you drain it off yourself ? And have you been shown what to do? I would love to do it myself but am a bit scared. Glad you are now stable it's terrible pain!😞

Hi, my cyst is a quite clearly defined bump on the rear inside of my knee. When it is too stiff the lump becomes bigger and harder, causing the knee to be painful. I use a 10ml syringe and a 25gx1" orange needle and push it in very gently, straight into the cyst. Drawing off anything up to 15ml in the past, now I rarely draw off 5ml.
