Speakers and performers who included Danny Glover, Ben & Jerry, Yolanda Adams, Bishop Darin Moore, Bishop Marvin Sapp, Bishop Vashti McKenzie, DeRay McKesson, Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner and our own Dr. Mary O'Connor made for an inspirational program on the National Mall. Highlight video below.
There were so many great messages and a wonderful atmosphere as people of all faiths came together. Ben and Jerry, founders of the iconic ice cream brand, gave a thoughtful speech about how it would have been almost impossible for them to build their business if they had not found it easy to get loans, and been forgiven for minor legal situations. Recognizing the existence of structural racism and then figuring out how to combat it is the challenge. This multi-faith gathering shows that the will is there to complete the work started by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. over 50 years ago.

We must awaken to the truth that patients do not always receive equitable care. Women of all backgrounds and individuals of color are more likely to receive unequal treatment. When we are patients we must ask questions, understand options and be engaged members of the healthcare team to promote the highest quality of care we can receive! Our voices as patients must be heard!
Im beginning to wonder about discrimination re health insurance status here in USA. 2 yr ago at my first EP appt, I had to step out of my nursing job and was on COBRA for 18 mo. EP was all about healthy life style changes and no ablation( which I wasnt seeking). Now, Im healthier, managing well on PIP, last episode 11 months apart. Ive avoided any ER trips or hospitalizations. Now I have medicare and EP is talking to me re bennefits of " early ablation". Coincidence or medicare generated motivation???
