Currently I do not have health insurance, I will get medicare in 2 months. I have been self treating with exercise, weight loss, supplements such as tumeric , fish oil, glucosamine, chondroitin.

In past, when working and insured, I had arthroscopy in 2012, synvisc injections twice, none seemed to be helping. Most recent xrays 6 mo ago showed severe narrowing, osteoarthritis both knees. Fortunately my rt one is the only painful one, left feels fine. I still have 35 of original 70 lb to lose, it is difficult as long distance walking is no longer an option.

I meant to add to my previous post., am interested in stem cell injections. I hear they are not covered by insurance and cost is thousands of $ which would not be an option for me at this time

Hoski, you are correct. Stem cell type therapies are not covered by insurance and the cost can be quite high. One potential option is to find a center where there is a clinical trial and see if you quality as a research subject as there is no cost to the patient/subject. You can search on clinicaltrials.gov.
