I was diagnosed with raynuads as a teenager now in my late 30 but never seen anybody about it, should i be asking my doc. I have noticed my hands are very dry and go blue as soon as the weather gets cold.

Hiya buryboy ! is that bury in Lancs ? Im southport girl !
anyway.... the colour change definitely sounds like Raynauds, as well as is it painful when the blood circulation is returned?
have you had a look at the raynauds and scleroderma website for some info ? it is a great site for info and tips ! raynuads.org.uk
I would recommend you get an appt with your GP as they may want to prescribe you a blood pressure drug to reduce the onset of attack. I would also strongly advise you to wrap up and keep your extremities warm as although the drugs can help, there is no cure, and these drugs come with their side effects. I am a firm believer that prevention is better than cure !
I hope this helps....
I also have stage 4 kidney failure so i am on blood pressure tablets for that. Think i get it my feet as well, i always get bad pins and needles on the plus side i very little pain in my fingers do it does not hurt when i cut them.
Hi buryboy ,
My heart gose out to you as I have had Raynuads for meany years ,
When I'm cold my feet and lower part of my legs up to my knees go very gray blue .
I've been put on beta blokers for high blood pressure ( 1 160mg Propranolol and a half beta bloker 80mg at night ) It can be extremly painfull if I go out on a cold day and in seconds my finger tips start to hurt like I've got frost bit .
Its one of the side afects of the tablet .I've been told there isn't anything that can be done so I just put up with the pain .
I have also cut myself and not felt it till I see the blood ,
take care xx Tina
I suggest that you you see your GP. The blood pressure tablets dialate your blood vessels to allow more blood to your extremeties. Nifedipine is usually the medicine of choice in Raynaud's cases.
I am like you buryboy. I've had Raynauds since I was 8 years old but never had it officially diagnosed. I'm in my early 50s and have noticed the condition is getting worse. My hands and feet are much more sensitive to the cold than ever before, skin dry, hands and lips crack. This winter has been especially bad.
I think it is advisable to get treatment, especially since you've had it for so long with no medication. Nifidipine definately helps and keeping them warm! Roll on the warm weather! The Dermatologist gave me Hydromol and that seems to be helping a lot with the dry and cracked skin and on your feet/heels as well.
Keep wrapped up! Have a good day.
Does it affect your lips? I have really bad chapped lips.
I think it dose affect your lips .mine have a tinge of blue most days If I'm cold xx Tina
hi yes it does affect the lips.. mine go numb sometimes even bluey black in colour but i dont get chapped lips i write this with my hot water bottle on my knee lol ..stay warm wear gloves carry hand warmers try keep body temp at same temperature sudden temp change brings on attacks but dont worry ...
