Please give advice,

I have been blessed with a part-time job (about 20) but it is data entry and my index finger is painful and calloused at the finger tip and I am afraid it is trying to work its way up to a ulcer. Any helpful advice?

Hi danacetz, wish I could offer advice, never had this, though lost all the skin on both feet and all my toenails. Totally different. Hopefully someone here can help you.

I feel your pain! I use one of these sometimes on my most painful finger. It has a gel lining so absorbs the shock of constant tapping.

I spend my days typing and it certainly helps. It was the Occupational Therapist's suggestion.

Hope that it helps.

If there is any infection indicating an ulcer you need to see your GP and get a course of antibiotics asap. Have you tried a finger bandage for protection. I use them all the time - noy only do they protect but also alert other people to be careful!

Get treatment straight away. These things do not heal by themselves. That is the problem. You may need antibiotics for at least 10 days (we take a long time to respond) as soon as absolutely possible, and if that is not enough see your rheumatoloigist

You are extremely brave - go with Anne's good advice above AHM42 from RSA she is amazing & has a wealth of knowledge & experience. Also zenabb - go see your GP & preserve your digit , I hope your employer will understand . Take Care AliW xxx
