Hi suzmcintyre08 I think you should seek proper medical advice as soon as you can as there could be a number of causes for your purple finger. We can't take any chances by leaving things too long.Hope all goes well. Smiler2012 xx

I agree with smiler2012, talking to your Dr sounds like a good plan, especially if it is just the one finger affected. It may have a simple explanation such as being down to tasks you perform (i.e. the way you hold a pen may be affecting that finger) but it is always better to be safe rather than sorry. Best wishes. X

I agree with everyone. I have seen some people with their finger/s lost. Action is required I think.

That happened to me once - before I was diagnosed with raynauds - I went to see the doc and magically in the waiting room it sorted itself out, typical :)! That was an interesting chat - hi I'm here for a purple finger which now you mention it ..................is fine.

I to would get it checked - maybe the waiting room will sort it out like mine did :)

Hey kaz, yea i had a purple pinky finger before too, lasted a wk and day after i went to docs it cleared, typical, which is why am a bit reluctant to go, this is worse tho and alot more painful, think ill give it a few more days, save the humiliation ??

I have Raynaud's and Scleroderma and had the same thing a couple of years ago. I went to see my GP and fortunately her husband is a vascular surgeon so she phoned him whilst I was there! He thought it could be a blood clot so she sent me for a scan and put me on blood thinners. It was a blood clot but because I had left it a while before seeking help my finger became infected and took a long time to heal. I would advise you to get to your GP ASAP just in case!!

Hi Suzi, do you see anyone at the hospital ? Rheumy ? If so, and the finger doesn't clear up within a week it originally becoming an issue, ask to see your specialist. I was admitted to hospital in Feb 2012 for this exact issue - one finger just refused to "come back"

If you don't have a specialist, insist your doctor finds someone at the hospital that can see you. I was admitted for a five day Iloprost infusion. Remember each day it is like this, it is causing tissue damage, so do not let the doc fob you off !

Good luck with it x

Hey Lil_Dee no I dont see a specialist for this, my Raynauds was really bad when I was in my early 20's, not so bad these days so dont take any med as with other Autoimmune problems I am already on lots of meds.

I will take on board your advice and keep an eye on it, if it doesnt clear soon I will go back to my Doc, although he did ask me to keep him posted.

Thanks :)
