raynards: hi all had major hand surgery... - Scleroderma & Ray...
raynards
Oh my word. Wow. You must let us all know how you get on with it.... Thank you for sharing.
It's not Renards (which means fox in English), it's Renaud's after the French man who first described it. Was it your rheumatologist that suggested it? I have never heard of it before. Good luck.
hi all. hand still numb the opp seemed to affect my little fingers for numbness more, ,sorry about the spelling, its Raynauds and yes it is after the french man, and no my consultant had heard of it,there are only to people the in the country that can do this ,at the moment , go on to my feet next , let you all know how things go, you can find a bit about it on the net ,but it took me ages, Its called a digit sympathectomy (my have spelt that wrong )
I had a trial lumbar sympathectomy a few years ago, the doc I saw in Dundee hoped it would help with raynauds in my feet and at the time I was told it wasn't possible to do anything for the hands so it's interesting you've had this op. When I had it they injected anaesthetic into the nerve in my spine that constricted the blood vessels in my feet but when I woke up my feet were burning and apparently that's why they didn't actually sever the nerves as it would have permanently left me like that.... I'd be interested to hear if your hand is improved after the op. I hope you're doing ok.
My fingers have been cracking recently and one has become a little infected like a small ulcer. Something I tried which seems to have made some improvement was a handbath with hot water and ginger.
Ginger is supposed to be good for circulation. (Was in an aromatherapy book). I used dried ginger. The stuff you would add in a cake mix.
I am not sure if I just got lucky and there was some healing to come anyway or whether the ginger made a difference.
Thought it may be worth mentioning so others can test
