Months ago had bad painful knees, swollen, varicose swollen vein inside on one. Used stretchy tube support day time and frequently drenched with witch hazel, increased bananas intake and made sure about veg . Eventually settled but some change as unable to jog for bus now the same. Wouldnt see gp in case advised antidipressant along with paracetamal. Suppose could do with xray but happy pain gone and vein settled. Not much help to you. How come no treatment possible you obviously need care.

Encourage the Raynaud's and Scleroderma Association to promt research into it. They need money for it.

I have terrible pain in my left knee which wakes me at night. I mentioned it to my GP but was fobbed off as usual with pain killers and anti- inflammatory gels and creams. I feel that I need an xray or further investigations, I'm so fed up with my body hurting all of the time :- ( x

Yes mine keeps me awake at night. I had it Xrayed a couple of years ago, so I know that the problem is calcification, but it is much worse now, the knee cap is quite enlarged. I am told that the joint is OK, but that nothing can be done about the tendons/ligaments.

I have a very sore knee. My rheumy exrayed, showed fluid, took sample, drained & gave me a shot of cortisone. The analysis of fluid showed I have pseudogout - not gout & not caused by the same thing. It is an old age thing. NSAIDS recommended for it, but no cure. Cortisone helps but pain has come back. Going to ask for another shot of it. Further damage can occur if not careful.

Hi yorky and everyone !! I currently have active calcium lumps on both knees at the moment :( had them for over a year !! I can only wear track suit bottoms because of them, as they are quite painful ! I have scarring on my knees from healed calcium lumps also !! I have tried numerous treatments over the years, and find that Pawpaw lotion has worked the best ! Granted it has not made them disappear yet, but they are not as swollen when I use the lotion. It is only available in Australia to buy but it can be ordered from makeuwell.com . check out my blurb about calcinosis on my 'about me section' !! The calcium lump which has been in situ for about 3 years at the end of the bone on my nose is getting bigger boo hoo !! Dr Niamh at the Royal Free tells me not to pick them as they get infected ! so I dont mind picking the ones on my knees but I am leaving the one on my face alone ! I just need a blue nose and then my face will be similar to the union jack, along with my red spots from the telangestica - living the dream ;)

Thanks for the reminder about pawpaw, I still have a small tube and will use it on the strange sore lump that has been growing on my finger for the past few months, which I am sure will turn out to be calcium. I think that they knee is way past external creams, probably needs something more like a cortisone inj, but I might as well give pawpaw a go there as well.
