does anybody out there suffer with severe stiffness and pain in joints some days i cant walk because of this and what can i do to relieve this?
stiffness: does anybody out there... - Scleroderma & Ray...
stiffness
I get this quite often too vaughan, the only thing that works for me is to apply heat to the affected area if possible and I put on creams that cause heat. And I try to keep moving as much as I can, as I find if I don't move to much i.e go from the bed to the couch and so on that I start getting really bad stiffness. If you are able to swim that always helps me a lot as it does not apply bad pressure to the joints.
I try and do a bit every day as I have two dogs and my hubby has a horse. So, as you may guess I take my dogs out once a day, if I can, if not they go into the garden, and I ride my hubby's horse at least 3 times a week. Nothing to energetic though. This does help with my stiff and painful joints.
I have the same problems, I have bursitis in one of my knees, when i get up in the morning, i hobble about like a little old lady, my knees ache like i am about 80 years old. I have tendonitis in my arms, I have stiff aching hands all the time, sometimes I wonder what is going to happen to me as I get older!!!
I've started experiencing stiffness in some of my joints over the last couple of years, mostly my toes where I have some pain, and my hips. Not sure yet if this is a symptom of a condition or just a symptom of getting older (then again I'm only 37, isn't that supposed to be classed as young these days!) Glucosamine is recognised as being beneficial for joint health but I think it's another of those things that work for some people and not for others. The hydrocholide version is purer and less processed than the sulphate version but either way I've heard you need to give it at least three months to kick in. It does have some contradictions so make sure you check with your GP if you're on other meds, I'm thinking of trying it myself depending on the results of my latest round of tests.
thought my joints where hurting as I'm am less active (on chemo break following surgery) I mentioned to my GP that I massage joints with glucosamine gel and move at least 10 mins of every daytime hour. I take Short walks when weather permits really lift me. I hope this helps, I am going to ask a doctor about it, and will update you x
