After years of receiving my prescription of Roche MMF from my Doctor’s surgery, recently I have been switched to the hospital pharmacy & have been taking a version made in India by Ascend. I am hoping this has also happened to a few here & they could reassure me that they too have noticed the change in the smell of urine to a strong smell somewhat like a cattle shed! ? My husband thinks it’s most likely the gelatine capsules. I have not changed my diet and it’s not Cystitis, I also keep well hydrated. I have not noticed any change in the effects of this version, I know with all our other worries & pains, this is a very minor question, I would like to be able to mention that I’m not alone when I will shortly be speaking with my Rheumy Nurse. Thank you for reading. X

This feels Iike thinly veiled racism. I promise the fact that your pills are made in India isn't making your urine smell like a "cattle shed". Ask for a kidney test. My kidneys failed due to my Scleroderma and the first sign was strong smelling urine.
Veiled racism? Not at all! Dodder's observation happens to be a valid one . I happen to know first hand that generic medications may have an adverse side effects on some individual patients.
The adverse effects may well be due to the excipients (inactive ingredients), but all the same, the fact remains: generics are not identical to the branded originals, although we are being reassured that the active ingredients are identical.....
