Inability to shake off a cold

Really just need sympathy.it seems I am doomed to spend the winter months suffering with colds that I cannot shake off.Saw GP today and he was really caring but I don't have a viral infection or bacterial one for that matter just s a never ending cold....so nothing he could do ..

I blame the meds... Particularly methotrexate.. even though as the rheumatologist says it's keeping my scleroderma at bay

Oh well this time last year I didn't have a cold but was at home recovering from a hip replacement following a fall.

It's as good fun

Winter colds are dreadful, they can really drag you down, Do you take extra vitamins C & D in particular to support your immune system? What dose rate of MTX are you currently taking? I have found that stopping my MTX for a couple of weeks if I have a cold or infection generally helps me recover quicker perhaps worth discussing with your consultant?

you have my sympathy in spades Kathleen Mary. I have been full of a cold since just after Christmas and you really start to feel as if you can’t function any more. I’ve decided to give antihistamines a go to see if they will relieve my blocked nose but can only report a very slight improvement. Hope you feel better soon, take care.

Can u take decongestants

I've tried nasal decongestant sprays to no effect and can't use things like lemsip ... because it can exacerbate Raynaud's

What about decongestant pills as they're v effective or sterimar nasal wash x

Thank you for your concern but the sterimar spray hasn't worked for me..and surely the pills would, like lemsip etc, contain phenylephrine?
