I have my second nailfold infection in 2 months - it is proving difficult to resolve and a few days ago a telangectasia bled profusely for no reason. Is this connected to my Systemic Sclerosis or just a coincident. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Nailfold infection
definitely getting it checked out. Who is treating you? Do you have a rheumatologist/scleroderma specialist? If so, try to see them or send a message explaining the situation. If you’re connected with Royal Free Hospital, I know they have a specialist helpline for infected fingers. They can give advice by phone or you can go up and see them.
My GP is treating it at present - she understands that my Systemic Sclerosis is affecting my sking. I see a Rheumatologist in Preston who also understands my auto immune conditions. At present I am using Flucidin H ointment and Flucloxacillin 500mg tablets. It does seem a little better this morning after 2 1/2 weeks. There is a specialist nurse I can talk to at the centre I go to.
Is it related to winter and dry skin around then nailfolds that splits and lets infection in? I had a nailfold infection last winter that was really stubborn, 3 lots of antibiotics and it spread under the nail so the nail seperated from the bed, took 6 months to grow out.
Having secondary Raynauds contributed to not being able to fight the infection off like a normal person.
I'm being really careful this year to keep the hands and nailfolds moisurised with dermol cream from the chemist, wear rubber gloves etc when washing things and antiseptic cream at first sign of any redness around the nailbed, so far so good this year.
