Hello, there are some websites that state that Hypnotherapy can help Raynaud's.
There are some Hypnotherapists that offer treatments for Raynaud's which are very expensive, £400 for just 2 sessions, emmaarmes.com/fees
I would want hypnotherapy to stop my central nervous system from overreacting to cold, constricting my blood vessels.
Has anyone with Primary Raynaud's tried it?
I don't need hypnotherapy to help relax, I do relaxation exercises already that help me.
Is there any valid scientific literature out there? Hypnotherapy is not mentioned on the NHS website, nhs.uk/conditions/raynauds/ or the Mayo Clinic Raynaud's page
Hi Mike444 sometimes it is difficult to know if a post is genuine, sorry don’t want to cause offence, equally I feel for any person posting who doesn’t get a reply. Your post is a difficult one to also answer. I understand what you are saying about the mind body connection but in this instance I really feel that if this form of therapy is of some benefit then it would be endorsed by these sites and indeed other dependable sources of information and I have never heard or read about this. I personally don’t think this would help my physical symptoms but it may help some perhaps to come to terms and deal with the symptoms mindfully, as I know extreme stress can cause a Raynauds attack with me. However, mostly I think it is about helping to control your inner core temperature by keeping warm and avoiding cold situations if possible. So I don’t feel it would help and if Raynauds is severe I do feel that perhaps medication is needed for some.
I would also question the £400 price tag for something that does not appear to be a recommended therapy for Raynauds. I really don’t believe you could gain control of this illness through hypnotherapy so I would concentrate on your relaxation exercises and save the money to buy warm clothes, silver socks and gloves for the coming autumn and winter, probably much more beneficial, however someone may prove me wrong or have found a cheaper price tag! Best wishes to you.
Thank you. I've decided against since posting. I find that the more I worry about Raynaud's and cold hands and am hyper aware of it, the colder my hands feel. But doing CBT for that does help.
Yes I can understand that CBT could work for you as I feel that is somewhat different to hypnotherapy which does work for some with different applications. I think we can all feel Raynauds slightly differently but the biggest challenge is just keeping warm, doesn’t always stop it but for me certainly helps.
