Decreasing Forced Vital Capacity

Hello,

Just wondering what your first symptoms were if you have been diagnosed with ILD. At my last rheumatology appointment I found out that my FVC has been decreasing gradually over the last few years. I was asked about breathlessness - I didn't think I was breathless until I was walking up a hill trying to talk to someone on the phone and realised I was struggling to get a breath! I've experienced this a few times since - interesting how you don't notice certain things until your attention is drawn to them!

Is it possible that getting out of condition and putting on weight has affected my FVC? I also have discovered I have oesophageal dysmotility and this can cause lung fibrosis. I am not stressing too much about it at the minute but I have another PFT next week. I am not sure when I will get the results of this test.

Does everyone go onto treatment with ILD? Also am I right in thinking that sometimes ILD can remain static for many years? I'm quite happy being able to work full time at the minute and think I have quite a good quality of life considering!

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!
