Keyboards for weak fingers - any recommendations?

I already have an ergonomic keyboard which is not that firm, but my little fingers have always been on the weak side, and now have osteoarthritis in the top joint in addition to my limited systemic sclerosis. Typing for any length of time makes my little fingers hurt, and I do have quite a bit of typing to do. Any recommendations on really light touch ergonomic keyboards?

Or alternatively finger braces for little fingers that still allow typing?

That sounds very frustrating. No recommendations on keyboards but would an alternative be a way of dictating rather than typing? If the typing you are doing is for an employer they should work with you to get you the help you need.

I'm self-employed so no help from employer. Tried voice recognition stuff a while back and it doesn't work for me for a few reasons - it does produce some approximate text - but it drives me up the wall dictating for ages and also I am working in the same room as my other half, so not really an option. Nice thought though. And it is a small house so having two work rooms doesn't fly either.

Hi Poppy, there is a national organisation called Ability Net that is designed to make technology accessible to all. They may be able to help you.abilitynet.org.uk/

There is also the Disabled Living Foundation site. They have a variety of sections on keyboards, and other technology. You can go on the site and search under 'keyboards'. There is also a helpline and information factsheets.

I suspect there are more out there too.

Hope that helps
