After years of attributing my pain solely to my scleroderma, a new consultant has explained its more likely fibromyalgia I have now in addition to the scleroderma that is causing the pain. I’ve been prescribed duloxetine 30mg for 2 weeks then up to 30mg twice a day. I’m desperate to rid myself of the pain but struggling terribly with the duloxetine even at 30mg. The first night I was zonked, so for a bit of an insomniac I was pleased initially but then the following day I just felt abs rubbish. Heart palpitations, ears ringing, weakened n flu like. Like totally wiped most of day. I’ve tried to persevere but nearly 2 weeks in still the same. It’s like I can’t shake the feeling of them n struggling to function.
Anyone else feel the same starting out with them but it settled down? I suffer a bit of anxiety too so bad really hoped this was the answer for me. Don’t want to give up but it’s like I’ve even less of a life than before at the moment as still dealing with the pain n now this!

I was duloxetine and the first month or so was very difficult. Following this it had an amazing effect on pain and on my depression. Eventually I had to come off it due to headaches. I was very disappointed as it was se effective.
Thanks so much for your reply. That is such a shame. I had terrible headaches the first few days but they seem to have settled altho my head still feels a bit weird n spaced out. Have you tried anything else? I started on setraline before - a very low dose but changed to duloxetine as was recommended for fibromyalgia.
Hi, so sorry your struggling.I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia secondary to my 19 year scleroderma diagnosis about 7 years ago, I take amitriptyline for pain and difficulty sleeping. I hope your symptoms settle on your duloxetine but if not perhaps amitriptyline would be another drug to try. Don’t loose hope xx
