New Raynaud's after Covid Vaccine...anyone else?

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone got diagnosed with Raynaud's (or a worsening of their symptoms) after their covid vaccine? I have extreme/sharp pain in my fingers with cold exposure (even if I'm just watering the garden and my finger is wet with the cold water for more than 3 minutes). Excruciating pain I've never experienced before and I just don't know what to attribute it to as nothing in my life has changed (no dietary/lifestyle change, no major stress, no moves, no new health concerns) other than getting my first dose of AZ vaccine.

I can't say I noticed it worsening, but mine has definitely worsened this last year. My feet in particular are constantly cold even with thick socks and furry slippers. I do try to keep my feet up when at home, I think it helps a little.

HelloNot the vaccine but having the actual virus might have started my daughter having raynauds...we still don’t know what is going on but after Covid last winter she had terrible chilblains and her hands were blue and blistering- really awful

She also got a slight positive ANA BLOOD TEST .

The rheumatologist said since Covid he’s seen a lot of this tape of thing!

I think similar to ‘Covid fingers ‘ as they call it.

Hopefully is will sort itself out ....

Since having my 2nd dose the swelling and overall discomfort in my fingers have actually improved. I agree though mine have been the worst ever for the past 6 months. I have had constant chilblains,or so I was advised that’s what it was over this time . My first consult with a rheumatologist (on a call) said I can’t possibly have scleroderma as I have suffered with Raynauds for too long!

That is just not true. I've had Raynauds since I was a child but did not start scleroderma till my early 70s, now 81. I think you should ask for a second opinion.

Now thats interesting Kaycee97 because when i was eventually diagnosed with Scleroderma, a long time ago now, i was told that i actually got it through my Raynauds, which i had for quite a while before my Scleroderma diagnosis. Makes you think, doesnt it?? All the best Kaycee 97.

Yes, I did. I was told I need to report it on the Yellow Card. I was just like you. It was awfully painful and very, very scary. The junior doctors at the vaccine centre told me it has been reported in rare cases, but I have lots if autoimmune conditions and always seem to fall into that category ☹️

I was also told to report it on the Yellow Card. My entire arms and legs went white :(

Now i come to think of it, yes my hands do seem to be more painful since my jab but, not sure if this is Raynauds or Arthritis has got a bit worse. Mine is worse when I’m gardening as well. Obviously these pains do not have Green Fingers, “againcovray” (just blue!!!!) Hee Hee!! Forgive me please, i have to laugh or smile to keep myself sane at times, when pain is bad!! All the very best to you “againcovray” and i hope your terrible pain is just temporary, while your body adjusts to the vaccine.

I’ve had Reynaud’s for decades (self diagnosed!) and my middle fingers go white just walking around the chiller aisles in supermarkets. But I never “lost” more than a few fingers. Since the first Covid jab I have noticed that after a run (during which I have no RP symptoms) both my hands go completely white. I am very alarmed by it. Since the second jab it’s even worse. I only get it in my hands and it isn’t painful just very uncomfortable while it lasts. It hadn’t even occurred to me it might be because of the jab but now I’m beginning to wonder. I should probably see my GP.

Have just been reading your question about having the AZ jab and Raynauds (written 3 months ago). Just for the record, I have just had my second AZ vac last week and yes I got a flare up of Raynauds, mostly white fingers and red & blue-like toes reaction.

Even though it was for only a short time off and on, I feel it was a reaction from the vaccine. I say this because my first dose I felt cold and slightly feverish about 10 hours later with no Raynauds symptoms, which didn’t worry me, as it was listed on the possible side effects. So when I had the second dose, I wasn’t surprised to have similar symptoms. And read that the second dose of AZ was more likely to have stronger side effects. But I wasn’t expecting to get the Raynauds. Especially because I rarely get Raynauds attacks.

So I do think there is a link or possibly that the AZ jab can bring on a Raynauds attack. And still feel that it is important to be vaccinated, but it should be noted that it could cause a flare not only with Raynauds but possibly other health flares or reactions (and the severity of these reactions will vary).

I got through my attack, but do feel my rheumatic symptoms are still reacting as my joints are more stiff and aching.

Yes. A woman with Raynaud’s had necrosis in her finger tips. Just reported in a case study using an NIH grant. sciencedirect.com/science/a...

Other people have gotten Raynaud’s soon after vaccination. See karger.com/Article/FullText...

I’ve been diagnosed with Raynauds recently. No family history of it. I had three Pfizer doses of the vaccination. I guess we will never know the cause.
