Hi,

I have a PIP telephone Assessment tomorrow.

I have read through my form - made some notes on the descriptor sheet.

Any other useful tips?? Am proper nervous and anxious - have been for 2 weeks since i got the appointment. Unfortunately i couldnt get anyone from my support bubble to sit with me as have meetings/chores. And i didnt want to change the time/ date as it took 12 weeks to get the appointment.

thanks,

Naila

Remember that it’s an assessment of how you function, not a discussion about your diagnosis so you have to talk about how it limits your ability to take self care or your mobility. Eg, when you have cold, painful hands what does it limit your ability to do, or does the fatigue limit your ability to take self care etc.

Just finished the assessment it lasted 70 mins. I told the nurse my hands are in a claw position - hence limits my ability cook, clean, get dressed, manage meds, use my phone.

Mentioned mobility is restricted and walk slow - use aids etc. Just have to wait and see what happens.

AnibethHi Naila, just reading your post and wondered have you got a successful outcome to yourPIP assessment, hope so. I had a face to face PIP last year to transfer from DLA and the report back to me was disastrous. They downgraded me even though my health was deteriorating, I couldn’t believe I had been sitting in the same room as the assessor, she got everything wrong! I sent a scathing report back listing everything she had got wrong, including that I thought she was in a hurry to shut up shop and go home and that I would be appealing the decision. Within a month they had

agreed to put my mobility back to the higher level and increased my care component to the higher level also.

Hoping that you got a better assessor but if not don’t hesitate to appeal.

Hi,

Yes it was successful. I had my assessment over the phone - the assessor was very empathetic and explained her reasoning for questions as she was going along. She had looked at all my evidence in detail. I have heard stories about assessors being wrong but i must of got a good one on the day. I would have appealed if i didnt get it.
