SLC-70 of 1.5?

I’ve recently had a autoimmune blood panel done and besides my hashimotos thyroid this scleroderma one showed up at 1.5. I don’t know anything about it and I have yet to see my rheumatologist to go over it. I’m having crazy symptoms all over due to my thyroid and some I believe are my liver but not proven yet. As far as lungs and kidneys they seem fine for now. I have horrible upper right quadrant pain that hits my back and shoulder as well as hips and right thigh. Constipation labeled as ibs c for five years, new acid and bile reflux symptoms, mild gastritis and a weird sharp pain in the right middle part of my abdomen. Idk if any of that is related to scleroderma or what to even expect with this scleroderma reading. Everything I read online says diffuse scleroderma and that it’s bad and I’m pretty nervous about this. Can anyone help shed some light on this? I’ve also tested positive for ANAs .

Just briefly as have to scoot off - I have scleroderma with some diffuse symptoms in the body including odd pains, inflamed tendons, gastric trouble and pulmonary hypertension and the good news, at least for me, is that on me all the medications I've been put on (one at a time and wait a few days for it to settle before the next one starts) are really taking effect - some like mycophenolate can take a few weeks to show much benefit, and then the benefit can increase over a year or more. So I am much more active and all different bits of me are mostly working a whole lot better. You do also need to do exercises, stretches etc - occupational therapy(hands and a bit of body) and podiatry if your feet are involved are also useful to see.

Thank you. Can I ask when you have the tome to reply, how did you get your diagnosis? Was it the blood test I had and if so what levels did you have? I’m very curious about all this as in my health journey this year scleroderma was never on my mind. I have dry hands from all the alcohol I have to use at work to clean but other than that I do if I feel any scleroderma symptoms unless my upper right quadrant pain is that. I do sorry about my heart kidney and lungs but so far all imaging tests have been normal.

My diagnosis was a combination of an antibody showing up in blood test, I don't know which one or the level, plus the consultant seeing the skin tightening in my face - as in no wrinkles where there should be some - plus the consultant looking at the tips of my fingers under a magnifying imager and seeing the broken blood vessels, plus Reynauds in my hands. All were characteristic of scleroderma.

It is good that your liver and kidneys and lungs are fine - liver and kidneys being fine should mean you can handle medications that can cause liver and kidney problems.

Any chance of wearing gloves and protecting your hands at work?

Hi I have scleroderma with the Scl-70 marker.I’ve had scleroderma for 20 years and I’m fit and healthy at 52.

Please remain positive and don’t over think things too much, your consultant will explain everything and this disease is different for everyone.

You can ask to be referred to a specialist centre like The Royal Free, London but your rheumatologist May be a specialist.

I wish you good look and a positive and bright future x

I had an ANA and it showed a result for scleroderma at 1.9. I went to the rheumatologist and her panel showed negative for scleroderma but positive for RA. I am having the same symptoms as you listed along with headaches, dry eyes, mouth and skin! I also have a very strange pattern of small clusters of veins appearing about two inch's below my bra line and up my right quad. I randomly will itch all over and sometimes I will have small pin prick sized bruises appear for days and then go away! The Rheumatologist is sending me to see a dermatologist for the veins because she says she's never seen the veins which she calls "telangiectasia" present itself in this way in her patients. She says I have Raynaud's and that I need to go off my birth control due to the hormones making Raynaud's worse. I am sorry for what you are going through and can totally relate!! Please let me know the results from your next appt. Good Luck!!

Thank you for your response. I feel as I might be similar since I had a weak result for RA but it was the only other one that showed up and honestly feel my symptoms might be more along those lines. My rheumatologist finally saw me and said I don’t show any physical symptoms of scleroderma so we are going to repeat my tests. He did not agree with me on this but I read sometimes it can come up positive like this but actually be a type of lupus and since I’ve had more rash type symptoms that seem like lupus I can’t help but wonder if that’s more likely the cause. I’m also going to see a dermatologist next week so I’ll let you know their options on it all. I hope you get some answers too, I know all this is so frustrating sometimes.
