Hi there, my sinuses are always playing up. When I have a cold it flares them up for ages and makes the situation worse. Sitting here typing with a head that feels painful and full as we 'speak'. Post nasal drip that goes down the back of my throat. Wake up with a fur coated tongue and throat clearing in the morning. Bleeding from my sinuses. Pain in face, sinuses and ears. It comes and goes in severity, but is always there on some level. Just one of my connective tissue symptoms I live with. Not found any particular nasal spray or medication that makes a difference. I can't be bothered to do salt washes, which are supposed to help...but I think will just add to the list of things that I need to do in my personal care regime that takes for ever when you have scleroderma
Have you been prescribed steroid nasal sprays, or tried salt washes yourself? Might be worth a try for you?
I believe at some point there was a link on here about some comments that Professor Denton had made about how the tissues in the sinuses can change in scleroderma and contribute to this problem, but I don't remember him saying how to improve it.
All my Best

sinus issues are very painful antibiotics needed to sort it out
Do you mean when you go out in the cold or when you have a cold? If it's only on cold exposure and it improves on warming it could be Raynaud's as this can affect any extremity including the nose, not just hands and feet. The best option here would be to avoid the cold, e.g. by wrapping a thick scarf or cowl around your face a few minutes before you go out so you have a later of warm air around it and you don't expose your nose to cold. You may feel a bit odd at first, but it's better than the pain! There are also drugs you can use but avoidance may be enough.
Sinus pain is a completely different beast and isn't triggered by cold exposure.
I have also come across facial flushing due to cold exposure in other situations , but this was painless so probably not relevant. Have you noticed your skin going white, blue/purple or very red? That would go along with Raynaud's but you don't have to have the colour changes. If you're on this forum, I'm guessing you already have Raynaud's or something related, so that's the most likely thing. GPs don't necessarily know you can get it in your nose, so if you think it could be that it would be worth directing them to the SRUK website if they need convincing. Good luck!
Yes! In cold air it feels like sharp knitting needles are being shoved up my nose! Very painful...Also inside ears, and if properly cold, cheeks too. Whole world of pain...Then sinuses will be odd for hours after (like in an airplane)...Raynauds? Scarf around face, even indoors, is my only solution. N
Hi all ty for comments, erm i do suffer with raynauds altho didnt realise the link. Lol
I can be in or out doors tbf, and soon as i start to feel cold here comes the facial and nasal pain.
