Is Raynaurds An Auto Immune Or An Auto Survival Spasm

As i dont think it attacks the body tissues itself Like Arthritis, It is a spasm designed to safeguard the body core temperature and it seems that allot of the skin problems are caused by the lack of surface blood flow Reynaurds creates so healing is inhibited. Dose this add up ?

What an interesting thought.

Hi Thanks

Love and peace Max xx

Depends whether it’s primary (no damage) or secondary to another condition such as scleroderma (damages capillaries)

Primary Raynaud's is just a reaction to the cold. Secondary Raynaud's is🐩 autoimmune and the antibodies are detectable in blood tests

Agree with you on the secondary Raynauds. Never had this until I developed the Systemic Sclerosis. It is definitely autoimmune.

You can also have Raynauds without an autoimmune cause (primary).

I know ....never had secondary Raynauds or even primary Raynauds until I developed Sys. sclerosis. Almost lost my fingers through gangrene with this...my doctor had no idea what was causing it. Hospital infusions for 3 days and then blood thinner clopidogral prescript. to hopefully not happen again.

Raynauds is actually an overreaction to the cold. Capillary contraction is normal to redirect blood to the organs in the event of low temperatures, but Raynauds is an over-sensitive extreme response. Then you have primary Raynauds, where this overreaction doesn’t cause any damage, and Raynauds caused by an autoimmune condition, which does damage the capillaries (damaging the blood flow to the extremities permanently causing things like ulcers to get infected and require Iloprost treatments, as there’s poor blood supply for the provision of white blood cells).

Hi Linda and Bear its a learning curve for me only 2 months in and confused by how it can affect one I do get ill-affect from stress and was apparent to me when i saw consultant my legs knees looked scaly (bit like an old mans which is ridicules for me Ha Ha ) thing is the pills made them younger to look at and touch along with sore finger issues improving

and white bits on toes disappearing. I did not realize the capillary damage could become permanent, not sure were i am in it as pills sorted most things out, and i relate to blood supply for healing. Have always had good circulation, i was concerned that hands would get very cold and not want to heat up before the pills not sure what winter will bring, I do have osteoarthritis in both hands, and it seems like my back is the trigger for the spasm.

Thanks for all the info well appreciated

Peace and Tranquility To all Maxx

P.s. Pills don,t stop or cure they seem to stop spasm running rampant

You have perfectly described Primary Raynaud's, but Secondary Raynaud's MsxV4life is very different. I have had it for years. It can flare with stress and shock, as well as cold, and causes sores and ulcers. My own was bordering on necrosis. This doesn't happen in Primary Raynaud's. Also, as mentioned, Secondary Raynaud's will show ANAs to confirm it is autoimmune.

Hope this helps 😊

Regular acupuncture helps stimulate the circulation, but it's costly

Secondary Raynaud's is a disease under the rheumatoid arthritis umbrella ..... hence an autoimmune disease

The_Bear's response was absolutely spot on. Thanks for putting it into words much better than me.

It's a horrid disease and, although I resisted Iloprost for several years, I now have it 2-3 times a year ..... and it REALLY helps 😊

Hi Have done little research on ANA, Necrosis Iloprost, It dose feel at moment that my systems are minimal in many ways.

Peace and tranquility Maxvxx
