Hi everyone!

I read all your questions everyday and I thought I might share how I deal with my Raynaud, hoping you find it helpful.

I don’t have ulcere at all but my hands get white and cold and when happens they hurt and I can’t do much other than keep them warm. As well as my feet.

I get ginkobiloba, one tablet per day. Check this out if you want to know more about it :

Also, I’m trying to no drink coffee as much as I used to do. I manage to drink one per day in the morning. Did you change some of these habits in order to decrease Raynaud attacks ?

If you have any other tips or you want to share howmyou deal with condition, I would much appreciate it.

Hi fabi - I've cut down the caffeine too just the one cup in the morning to wake me up. Lifestyle change is a big part of managing the ray's for me anyway. I take medicine (amlodipine) which has really helped but sadly it doesn't help everyone and does have side effect's.

Hi amd21,

How does the medicine help ? I never tried when my gp talked me about it. I always prefer to avoid medicines where possible.

Sorry for delay I didn't get a notification.

The meds help by relaxing the blood vessels and keeping the blood flow going. I was on nifedipine which worked very well but I had side effect's (flushed bright red, severe night sweats had to change duvet every day and mattress went mouldy due to it) after couple of years got fed up of them and switched to amlodipine at a lower dose.

I have less control (had mild attack yesterday) but less s/e its a trade off.

Very interesting post. fabi81. Could you tell me which brand of Ginkobiloba you take and how many milligrams? My feet are like two blocks of ice and no matter how much I try to warm them they still stay freezing.

I buy Ginkgo on amazon and its brand is Zipvit. There is 6000mg for each tablet and you only need to take one per day.

It’s painful when hands and feet get frozen 😭a glass of red wine and walk/exercise help !

I have tried everything including exercise, woolen socks, warm shoes, hot water bottles etc, except red wine especially Rioja! Unfortunately, I have lung issues and am on permanent antibiotics so the red wine is few and far between. However, I shall try to drink more. I shall let you know how I get on.

Ask your gp which one would it the best choice for you, since you are under permanent medication so I do believe you probably should buy something more natural than mine. I’ll share the picture in a new post hoping that I’m allowed 😅

Caffeine is what I was understood to constrict blood vessels, so drink decaf coffee and teas as much as you like. Also, I think the sulfites in wines may constrict, as well. Research that info. Homedics makes a great heated foot massager.

Here I am.

Apparently, up two drinks of red wine (or any kind of alcohol) blood vessels are more dilated, this is why we feel warmer. After the second drink, the benefits are neutralized.

Make any difference. I tend to have 1 to 2 (max) cups of coffee per day (and no other caffeine). I have been wondering if it’s worth cutting down on that. I haven’t noticed any real difference when I’ve had less coffee in the past (other than some headache in the first few days understandably) I also take Ginko biloba, and sometimes garlic, turmeric and ginger but quite frankly I’m not convinced they make much of a difference either. I still suffer from a Reynauds attacks when my core temperature drops but I simply try to warm up quickly and the blood is back without much pain or inconvenience. Worth saying I don’t spend much time outside so life would be certainly different if that was the case. For me, exercise is what really makes a difference so so try to be regular at the gym as that certainly gets my blood boiling:)

I drink one coffee per day since I decided to cut down with caffeine as it known as blood vessels constrictor and I can’t tell if it’s giving me any benefits. To be honest my main concern is that I don’t want the symptoms worsen.

Regarding excercise I agree with you. It’s a must!

As for Ginkgo biloba, I’ve noticed my attacks have lessened so probably try to buy a different one or you might just need to change the dosage.

I have stopped drinking any tea (brown or green) and coffee (ground or powdered), as both (even decaffinated varieties; even weakly brewed) have a noticeable effect on inflammation and ulceration in my fingers.

Sadly, it took me several years to find this out.

I now drink Prewett's (chicory) or Whole Earth (chicory and barley) instead of coffee, and I drink various herb teas - and a lot of cocoa ! :-)
