For the past two weeks I have been experiencing extreme pain in my neck, shoulder and The pain radiating down the upper part of my arm. I have hard lumps and knots in my neck and my shoulders. I have been using heat and ice to topically treat. Also using a tennis ball to try and massage and break up the knots. I Iwas diagnosed two years ago with scleroderma. Yes I see a rheumatologist and on medication for it. Does anybody else have this symptom?

Painful neck, shoulder and back...
Might not be anything to do with scleroderma...have you been to your doctor and had it investigated. Sometimes I think that everything gets lumped into ...oh you have Ssc....it probably is this! Well, not trying to be a pain ...sorry for that... I get pain in my hands, ankle and knees and back....neck too, have been for MRI and x-rays ...have arthritis in all those joints....nothing connected to my Ssc. But, the swelling in my hands and fingers IS connected. Hope you get some relief from your pains, best of luck pet. xx
Yes, I've had exactly this and the rheumatologist said that it was rotator cuff tendonitis, and injected my shoulder joint with steroids which really helped.
Hi Jmrose
I've had Scleroderma for over a year and found myself to have similar problems though not as painful as yours. My shoulders knot up too so I have regular massages. I've occasionally had pain at the top of my arm too, it feels like the muscles torn and I can't raise it without a searing pain and it lasts a couple of days. I've put it down to the condition and try and cope as best I can x
