Is anybody having problem going to Dentist. I mean my lips are getting small and tight so it cannot open so wide for dentist treatment anymore. It is such a nightmare going to the dentist as it feels like my lips are about to rip apart. What should I do ?
Is there anybody having braces ? How does it feel , is it difficult with Scleroderma ? I think I soon have to get braces.
Thank you guys so much in advance and take care

I have Scleroderma and have problems when going to the dentist. I had to have a tooth out in hospital about a year ago as it was difficult for the dentist to do. Try some exercises by trying to smile a lot, singing is helpful too, this is what my doctor told me and I use Vaseline before I have work done to lubricate the lips.
Strangely enough I lost part of a tooth at the weekend so I’m not looking forward to my dental appt this week.
If you use lip balm it should help with opening you mouth without cracking your lips. Also you may want to consider Invisalign instead of conventional braces. You have more flexibility and less work in the mouth.
Hi I too have smaller lips I can’t open my mouth to floss my back teeth. So I got a sonic toothbrush and they have floss attachments is how I do my teeth. The last time I went to the dentist was last year I am supposed to go back but I haven’t yet it was so painful. My scleroderma have my lips so tight that my teeth are showing because my lips are so small they can’t cover my teeth. I look like I am upset because I am trying to hold them together but when I am relaxed and not thinking about it my mouth is open I have severe dry mouth I wake up at night drinking water because my tongue and mouth is so dry.
