Wrinkly and " Jagged looking lips"

Hello all, trust you're all keeping well and staying safe☺️!

Is there anyone out there who could give me advise on what i could do to my lips. Got both Scleroderma and Raynauds, It all began in 2016. My lips amongst other issues became thinner and wrinkly. Now they are looking so "jagged", and i feel so ashamed of the sight. I look so old and its noticeable to people...kindly advise, what should i do to treat it?

Thank you and have a great day everyone xx.

Hi there, There is this page on the SRUK website which might be helpful.

sruk.co.uk/makeup/

and this one on the mouth in general

sruk.co.uk/scleroderma/scle...

I wonder whether an intensive lip moisturiser like Vaseline Lip Therapy would be of benefit?

It is important to keep your lips moisturised and covered and protected from the sun. I use coloured lip balms as opposed to lip sticks as lip sticks never seem to stay put for long and just dry and crack on my lips. There are some good ones out there, Vaseline, Nivea, O'Keefe's...have an experiment.

Hope that helps a bit

Hello Eembee1

I have the same problem with my lips. They look horrible! I first of all had them done in 2016 at the Royal Free and they looked great. Problem is the look doesn't last. I then had to wait another 18 months and then I was told I had lost too much weight for them to do them again. The procedure is called fat transfer (taken from stomach)

I then went to a doctor friend who used Botox and hyaluronic acid to reduce lines and plump my lips. Looked great and almost back to me.

Because of the lockdown I now have to wait until things are back to normal before they can be done again. With both procedures the look doesn't last - 18 months perhaps.

I just feel it is worth spending money on this instead of clothes etc.

I also use skincare which contains hyaluronic acid as this helps to soften the lines around the mouth.

This is my advice. Other people might be able to offer different. I do recommend. Suck it and see. You have nothing to lose.

Take care

Hello Sclero for your reply on this. Honestly, i think its a good idea to spend my money on beautifying my lips rather than buying clothes. If it would stay on for 18 months then its good, as i sort of assumed it would only last for 3 to 6 mnths.. I have been waiting for over a year to see Prof Butler but not gotten an appointment yet , so i'll rather go private. Have to wait due to the lockdown tbough 😥!

Been taking Hylauronic pills, but it seems that my lips are looking more wrinkly and worse, so I was about to stop it( or perhaps the pills are not the reason). Was it a bit costly getting it done ?

Hi thinning lips is a common scleroderma problem. I’ve previously had lip fillers which helped my self esteem massively.

Hello embee1

To have lips and lines around mouth cost me £300 pounds. Costs do vary. To have lines around mouth and maybe a lip line instead of full lip maybe cheaper. Best to enquire and talk to doctor before having any procedure.

Regarding skincare go to Boots - No 7 is good and they can recommend. I also use a new product also from Boots called Inkey - also very good. Use the products recommended for hydrating the skin. Ideal for sensitive skin.
