I do know shingles can return repeatedly in those with compromised immune systems so it'd make sense those on immunosuppressant would be more inclined to get it

I had shingles years ago around the time when I was diagnosed with Sclerodema so maybe there is a connection. I hope you feel better soon xxx

I've had Shingles 3 times now! The first was a long time ago & before I was diagnosed with Scleroderma but I've had it twice in the last few years and I am also taking Methotrexate. I was told its because my immune system is lowered due to the MTX. Thankfully the last few times has been relatively mild.

I have had shingles twice, if not three times, when I was on methotrexate about 3 or 4 years ago. At that stage I had not been diagnosed with scleroderma but I had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I became intolerant of methotrexate so was taken off it and put on azathioprine when after a year or so I developed a rash and was taken off that too. I am now on leflunomide and so far I have had no problems and no shingles.

I truly have suffered with re-occurring Shingles through the years - 6 times since 1992. I was just eligible to have the Shingles Shot at my Primary Care Physician's Office in October - Medicare covered since I had turned 60. Oh my, what a painful and challenging condition. Wasn't diagnosed with Scleroderma and Raynauds until 06/2008. I trust and hope that you are doing much better and whatever remedy your doctor advised/applied will prevent the Shingles from ever returning again to you, me and our HealthUnlocked Friends. Take care, GOD bless you. - Thelma

I think that shingles caused the onset of my systemic sclerosis. I think I got something in a therapy pool where I was taking excercise classes. The therapy pool was also used to treat people with a number of medical conditions. I am now on Celcep, mycophenolate.
