Hi everyone, I have just had a blood result with a raised CK of 254. Can anyone explain what this means? I may also need an EMG.

Thanks. Debbie

CK is creatine kinase which occurs in muscles. Temporary highs are caused by exercise and various other things but if you have Scleroderma you are probably feeling weak and tired so the test is to look for Myositis. An EMG is a biopsy like test of muscle tissue I believe.

Thank you Judy. At least it may explain my fatigue.

Yes it may explain it, but there are other causes of fatigue as well. I have been feeling exhausted for the past couple of years but my CK result was OK!! However I am 70 which I presume is a lot older than you so I hope you can get to the bottom of it.
