I work outside and am on my feet a lot. In winter I wear Doc Martens with thermal insoles, and silver undersocks but am finding that this isn't enough any more, any recommendations on durable footwear?

Any advice on practical footwear?
Not really. I buy my shoes and boots from Cosyfeet and they don't do anything warmer. Have you tried Mountain and Ramblers shops?
I bought my husband some electric innersoles, he still hasn't tried using them yet. They were cheap from Maplins, in the summer. Don't know if they still stock them though. We intend to try them with rechargeable batteries first.
I found "Hobo's" really comfy boots and shoes they do mens and womens
I have alpaca insoles in my ordinary shoes and electrically heated insoles from EXO, which are brilliant, but expensive. They use rechargeable batteries.
Hi there.
Are you on any medication to help the circulation? I can't give any advice on special shoes but I take nefedipine which makes a little difference but unlike yourself, I only go out when necessary in winter and am not in work.
It must be very difficult for you. Any possibility of working indoors for your company?
I wish you well and all the best for a more comfortable time.
I find exo insoles v good but the wires are too long and get tangled. This year I am using Warmthru electrically heated socks - shorter wires and staying connected better. The electrical part is separate from the sock, it slots into a pocket under the toes, so you need to buy several pairs of their socks if you are going to use this system every day. Sometimes I can get away with just using an exo heated belt or jacket, if my core is warm my periphery is more likely to behave! As you can tell I have been using electrically heated products for years and Im always on the lookout for new designs. I also like full knee length sheepskin boots from Celtic sheepskin company but these aren't practical in anything too muddy/wet.
Thanks for the advice and wishes. I am now using a pair of thick soled "Dickies" work boots that are like hiking boots. Three pairs of socks and woollen insoles seem to be doing the trick. I may try out the electrical stuff if they don't prove up to the job when the weather gets harsher.
I have also ordered some neoprene divers gloves which, by talking to market traders, seem to be great for warmth as well as dexterity. We shall see!
Hello cheesemonger,
I've just thought of something. Try to locate a shop that sells the gears for outdoor pursuits like camping, mountain climbing, hiking etc. I remember seeing such a shop sometime ago in West London but not sure if still there.
I'm sure you would find something on the internet. If I think of anything more that may help I will touch base with you via this forum. Keep as warm as possible in the meantime . I'm sure you will find a solution hopefully asap.
Good luck!

I recently bought some "heat for feet" socks from Aldi or Lidl. They only cost £3..50 and they are AMAZING! on wearing them and taking my dogs walking for the first time I did not have a Raynaud's attack of my feet, which led to a milder attack of Raynaud's in my hands. I would definitely recommend trying them. They are really thick, soft and so very warm! Good luck!
