me that apart from flu jab my consultant recommends pneumonia jab. Would it be possible for members of the forum to offer any advice on the wisdom of this step as I am concerned about any serious repercussions?

I had a flu jab yesterday.Part of my scleroderma affects my lungs(idiopathic pulmanory fibrosis)auto immune system is not working. Hosp told
I have a flu jab every year because of my asthma and when I was diagnosed with Scleroderma my rheumatologist ordered a pneumonia jab for me. I had it and there were no ill effects at all. I would just have it and not worry. It lasts for up to 10 years.
I have SSc and asthma and because I take Methotrexate I had to have a pneumonia jab but didn't have any ill effects from it. I also have the flu jab every year.
Thanks. Maybe I should have one.
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, but it would be the best thing to do. I have always had the Flu' injection with no problems, but the Pneumonia one made me very ill, but seeing as most folks don't have a reaction, you should go for it.
I've not been offered a pneumonia jab but did have the flu jab once about 10 years ago - it made me very ill so I've never had another (have limited Sclero with some lung fibrosis) but neither have I ever caught flu. I must have a strong immune system as I cannot remember ever even having a cold, I did have tonsilitis once in the late 70s and that's it - I just wish my immune system didn't attack me!! Anyway titanicus, I'd go for the jab, you have got something to lose if it does make you ill but at least you'd know. And if it doesn't make you ill then that's great. Let us know what you do ... and good luck. BarbJ
Go for it! Recommended by rheumatologists for people with our condition. I had no side effects from it.

I have had both flu and pneumonia shots. I've had no bad reactions. I say go for it. It lasts for years.
