Insomnia - sticky mouth

I've asked about similar things elsewhere, but I wondered if anyone in this community might have any insights.

I'm getting a funny sensation in my mouth which is hard to describe, but it's almost like there's sticky coating or strange (sour? sweet?) flavor in it. Eating some foods makes this worse but it's hanging around most of the time.

I keep swallowing and/or sipping water but that doesn't really help much. If I get out of bed and gargle with salt water it's a little better, but the benefit usually wears off before I can get to sleep. Because it's impossible to get comfortable I often end up lying awake for 3-4 hours after going to bed.

My dentist suggested changing toothpaste and I've tried various ones which haven't helped. This even included one designed not to have any flavor. Other than that, I'm referred to my doctor who sends me back to my dentist.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Due to some of my medications, I now have dry mouth which feels sticky. Given we are often drinking during the day and not night, it kind of makes sense. I ended up becoming a month breather due to some ongoing nasal congestion. So between the meds and mouth breathing, I've created over 12 new tiny cavities and I truly suffer from sleep deprivation. It's 3am where I am now! I use a brand called Carifree for dry mouth. Has toothpaste, rinse and a spray that helps with dry mouth. All designed to help with cavities too. Just thought I'd share!
