Hi. I was just wondering if anyone knew. If doesnt matter what time I go to bed whether 9pm or 11pm. If no alarm set soon as I have 8 hours pretty much to the minute I wake up. Even if I feel tired and I never get back to sleep. I find it odd. Thanks

You sleep for 8 hours? That's great.

It doesn't matter if I go to bed at 6 or10, my body will wake up between 12-1.

Internal body clock maybe?

Ok so it's a broken sleep

Yes that stinks. I am up and down all night.

Have you tried any natural things like melatonin? I know other people have recommended magnesium.

No meds worked for me, I've tried many. I believe it's a Med I'm on causing the problem.

I did try trazadone. Even at its lowest dose it was way too powerful for me. I was exhausted the whole next day. I also feel that may have been some reaction with something I'm on.

I listen to meditation. Mayb try that?

How many hours of actual sleep are you getting in the 8 hour window?

Broken sleep could be a sign of sleep apnea. Broken sleep could be due to things you do in the day (caffeine, alcohol, stimulating activities close to bedtime).

I would do anything for 8 hours of even broken sleep, I get 5 hours of broken sleep and it's enough and I dont feel tired the next day. My diet is really good and i exercise, without that i would feel like crap. I like to think of insomnia as a day and night issue. the things i do in the day will affect the night time.

A couple of things, stress raises stress hormones, if they are elevated at night, for example cortisol, this will cause spontaneous wakings. Sleep apnea, and even depression and depression medications can cause this.

If you think you may have a physical problem keeping you from sleeping thru night, treating that may be all you need to do. If you are on medication, see if insomnia is a side effect. I might start looking for a sleep hygiene issue, my diet, exercise or lack of it and/or a doctor if needed.
