Sleep apnea

I was diagnosed October 2017. I use a cpap with nasal pillow but I’m having increasing problems getting the seal correct.

Any other users out there with advice.

It’s really difficult getting return message from sleep clinic asking for help

Hi!

I was just about to suggest calling them, but then I read your last sentence. Can you go over there and ask for an appt.? It sounds like something needs to be adjusted. Have you tried tightening the head gear that goes around the top of your head (bringing it in a notch)?

Sorry to hear this, I tried a nasal pillow, but did,nt like it, recently I was given a new mask that covers only the nose. What a difference from the other face mask, I am sorry to hear you are not getting a good advice from your Clinic, I live in Scotland, and my clinic is at The Edinburgh Royal, and I couldn't, wish for better service. Whether replacement parts, or CPAP machine servicing, they are very attentive.

As a mouth breather I can't use nasal pillows but, assuming that they follow the same basic system, is it possible that the silicone has lost its elasticity? My full face mask lasts 3 - 6 months and it needs replacing. Also, my sleep clinic has a "drop-in" morning once a week when we can just call in (no appointment) to sort out any issues, replace masks etc without the need to waste consultants time on "trivial matters". Worth asking if they offer a drop-in option.

Good luck

Thanks for all your replies. My clinic has no drop in because it covers over 11000 patients!

You have to phone in but getting a call back is impossible.

I’ve tried tightening all the straps but I think the nasal pillow has gone softer & out of shape, I’ll try the phone again tomorrow , allowing bank holiday back log to go down.

The mask was great for the 1st 2 months but now it’s realy annoying & frustrating to use.

Wish me luck

i answered on your other thread. Boil the nasal pillows in water with Bi carb soda added for 5-10 mins. Early on mine pinched inside my nostril so I used a little vaseline to ease it but Im used to it now after 3 years and dont need to anymore. Also I make my own straps following the design of the original but shaped to suit me better. Good luck.
